Is there any real evidence that he was ever off them?Agreed. But the only two ways one could end up here (I think) are Luck making clear he wants continuity, or Irsay being back on pills.
What part, that he's been extended? Team has already announced thatIf the Grigson part is true -- and I have no reason to believe it isn't ...
I wonder what it would take to get the Colts 2018 first rounder...This is downright Nets-ian levels of incompetence, here.
In fairness to Grigson, he doesn't have the motor skills necessary for human speech. When the coach and GM aren't on speaking terms, of course the best course of action is to hand them both long-term extensions.
^^^^^“@ProFootballTalk: Jim Irsay says that Ryan Grigson is ”contractually tied“ to Chuck Pagano going forward. Suggests Grigson has gotten a three-year extension.”
If there was a way to make this situation even worse, Pagano not even being their first choice is probably it.Tom James @TribStarTJames 38m38 minutes ago
According to an NFL source, the Colts were negotiating with Sean Payton reps while Pagano talks were also happening. Talks broke down.
Nope. The way it's even worse than this is if it's shown that Grigson was the NFL source for the Payton leak.If there was a way to make this situation even worse, Pagano not even being their first choice is probably it.
The money quote is this:
Jim Irsay is a smart football man, smarter than most of the NFL’s boutique owners.
I'd rank Doyel at bottom 5% among all sports writers in terms of pure writing skills.Boutique owners? Not sure that's the adjective i would use to describe billionaires with billion dollar assets.
Posts like this are why I read this forum. Come for the lukewarm sports takes, stay for the canonical literary references. In Dante's Inferno, in the ninth circle of Hell (traitors), two brothers who killed each other are frozen in ice next to each other, up to their necks for eternity, their mouths frozen shut by their own tears. They can't speak, so they just sit there butting each other's heads, in misery, for eternity.
You're welcome. It pops into my head every time I see the thread title. Didn't want to be alone in my misery.Posts like this are why I read this forum. Come for the lukewarm sports takes, stay for the canonical literary references.
Also, damn you Costanza, now I have Culture Club stuck in my head. Christ, that song is a worse earworm than Purple Haze.
Boy George is arguably a rich man's Jimi Hendrix.Posts like this are why I read this forum. Come for the lukewarm sports takes, stay for the canonical literary references.

Suddenly I feel like we're living in some kind of M. Night Shyamalan plot twist.
So the next time Grigson tells Pagano play this guy and don't discipline that guy, then what? When Pagano, armed with a multi-year extension, tells Grigson to eff himself.Keeping Pagano is sort of whatever, he's a mediocre coach in a league full of them, but keeping Grigson is terrible with the caveat that Irsay may simply like having a GM that takes his input and likes to make a splash so whether its Grigson or another clown that fits that description doesn't matter.
That I agree with wholeheartedly.Pagano does hold some cards in that I think he has an easier job finding a new gig than Grigson does if the situation blows up.
Colts fire three other assistant coaches (in addition to Manusky).
Perhaps little has helped extend the BB-Brady window more than Luck landing on this mismanaged franchise. The last perennially-elite QB to arrive in the AFC was Roethlisberger a full decade ago. You have a generational QB talent landing on a Colts team that wasn't bereft of talent or mired in a culture of losing at the time (in contrast to most franchises that wind up with the top overall pick), enjoys a strong HFA and plays in a crappy division. All these Colts coaching changes are great for the other AFC South teams and AFC contenders. Luck is going to waste away in this franchise.
I appreciate the Boy George appreciation.Boy George is arguably a rich man's Jimi Hendrix.
Unfortunately, Luck is too good to be Sanchized by Schotty. I do hear distant cacklings from Jersey pike W16 exit however.Oh colts “@caplannfl: Source said to look for Brian Schottenheimer to join #Colts as QBs coach.”
