Is his twitter handle private? Isn't the point of twitter that the public can see what you tweet?
I mean it's not private but I don't feel comfortable just giving it out on a public forum here. If he wanted to give it out here that's his business but I don't feel like that's my decision to make. He's also not a public figure in the same sense as a reporter or politician or celeb (you know, other than being a SoSH celeb!).

Thank god they went out and got Cooks. Shitty news on Jules but it's by far the deepest position on the roster at least
Obviously looking for a silver lining here but Edelman has not been efficient in 2016. Of course, no guarantee Carr or any other will be better than a declining Minitron in 2017:

Like IT, just sucks to lose a player that I root hard for.

Deepest position on the roster is 3rd down back (Lewis, White, Burkhead, Foster)

thankfully, White and Burkhead can also play on 1st and 2nd, to spell MG.

Christ. Next man up. One thing is for certain. No way in hell Amendola gets cut now. Austin Carr probably made the roster as well.

Yeah, if there's a silver lining, it's that now they can keep Carr, who will likely replace Amendola next year if his preseason has been any sign of what's to come in real game action. Small consolation, but like others have said there's basically nowhere else on the roster better built to withstand something like this.

Yeah, it's not a secret and has been posted here before.

Not sure what's going on--he's not a low profile kind of guy.

Non-contact injury
Love your style SSF, so this isn't remotely anything against you in particular, but this Pubmed piece from the Journal of Athletic training provides some pretty solid reasons why to dislike the term 'non-contact' and how it can be a misnomer. Of course, IANAD, nor have I played one on TV, so take this as you will.

Personally, god I hope the injury reports are wrong, but this feels like an area they can afford to lose, if it's confirmed and had to somebody, given the depth on this team. Carr needs to absolutely step up, and think this will be possible. Just hate the ripple of effect of what this means more than likely for Gronk and Cooks as well since opposing defenses can cover them a touch easier now. Ugh. Not going to sleep well tonight.

Masochist?

I mean, I'm sure the Pats will be fine, but it still really fucking sucks. Just one of those guys you love to watch every Sunday.

I'm glad for Edelman that he signed that extension now.

This sucks but, just as Gronk's injury didn't derail last season, this injury won't derail the season if its the only major injury in the pass catching core. There's more than enough talent to make due.

Resignation due to small hands? On the other hand, even Melania can't match those buns.
Can't lie, DJJ. Asians are sensitive about "small hands" jokes.

Also, tweets coming in from former Pats regarding Edelman:

@DonteStallworth
I'm literally sick and sad af right now! I know how hard that kid works, man. No one works harder than Jules. I'm so sick. Good night!

@LG_Blount
Everyone please pray for my bro @Edelman11

On cap impact:

@patscap
(1/2) Edelman has a 500K LTBE incentive that could be earned in 4 different ways. Also has a $46,875 46-man active roster bonus (750K) total
(2/2) So if Julian misses the 2017 season because of this injury he will lose out on $1.25M.

Hopefully Carr or one of the other young WR will help out, as I'm not sure the Pats can rely on the health of Amendola or MM holding up all season if they're used heavily.

Amendola was almost certainly never going to get cut, first of all.

The players Edelman's injury may help the most are: Cyrus Jones, DJ Foster, Austin Carr. Do not assume BB will make it a straight WR-for-WR swap. Cyrus is helped out by the fact that Amendola is much more valuable now, and will likely be used to return punts far less often.

Edelman has already struck the right tone, reminding all of Patriots Nation that he is relentless. Such a fucking bummer, though. I was really looking forward to seeing Brady playing with all of his toys.

Oh well. Let's win anyway.

So, Kyed at NESN thinks Cooks goes in Z and Hogan X. Although, in Pats system both will be in either as the roles switch consistently.

@dougkyed
Didn't run much slot? They were predominantly in 11 personnel. And you're overcomplicating this. Put Cooks in Z and Hogan in x.

This is what I think, too. Edelman and Amendola are both on the wrong side of 30. Acquiring Cooks gives them a long-term option as the guy they can move around. They probably were going to use him outside more this year, and he'll still do that some, but I expect he'll get more work inside now.

Obviously sucks, but this is still a relatively strong WR corp without Edelman. They're certainly in better shape than if this had happened last year.

What are the chances this is it for him? He'll be 32 next year.

That's what I was insinuating earlier in the thread. Could this be a career-ender? At least with the Pats? Would be such a shame, he's such a great person and player.

Could they think a bit outside the box and run two rbs on the offense and then motion White, Foster, or Burkhead into the slot?

Wouldn't be the worst thing for his life. I'm glad my hand gave out boxing before my brain was. It'd be a really sad life for me if I couldn't be the best damn poster on this site.

I'll be honest, I wish BB would just throw preseason games away. Don't put any established player in a position to get injured in a preseason game. Ever.
Problem is, that approach may in fact lead to more injuries. You don't want guys getting their first game action in one that counts. Would be like stepping on the highway.

1) I love Edelman. Favorite Patriot of the latter part of this era. Sucks that he will likely never be the same especially given Brady's twilight
2) We all thought Gronk had torn his ACL in 2015 in Denver so maybe...? Naw
3) His talent is replaceable, his toughness less so. Tough tough SOB
4) I didn't think they were capable of winning it all without Gronk; I was wrong. Gronk is better than Edelman. So, they can win without Edelman too

Plug and play with Carr, everyoneoving up one spot on the depth chart.

Or two RB with White in the slot, which we know he can do because he did it some last year.

Sucks but they have the pieces to overcome this.

They run so many offensive sets, it's silly to speculate who "gets" the slot. Amendola and Cooks have both done it, on some plays it could be someone else. You are correct that they have many other pieces and the cascading effects will be will be fun to see. Carr step up? Mitchell go from 5th receiver to something more integral like he would be on nearly any other roster? Dola less carefully/protectively used now that they have other guys around? This team was built to weather things like this. Just too bad it was preseason.

Burkhead has looked good catching the ball, too - not that he's going to line up in he slot but I could see him being open out of the backfield a lot this year with teams having to account for our wideouts/TEs etc

Burkhead did line up in the slot in Cincinnati, so its not impossible.

I don't think this changes the team outlook much on a macro level, but during individual games/moments he will be missed given the mind meld with Brady, great hands, and knack for finding the marker and making more happen (which is how he got injured, sadly). That said, they still have plenty of guys who provide those elements to varying degrees, and BB has done a great job of putting quantity, quality, and versatile options around Brady to the degree that they can sustain the level of play we expect.
