Everybody chastising Nelson is expecting him to be the #1 type WR which he isn't. If he can come in and be Brady's 4th or 5th option I'd say that is good depth. I'm not counting on the likes of Kenny Britt, Phillip Dorsett, or the knees of Malcolm Mitchell.
Why would Nelson be interested in that?

He'll find a team willing to give him a much bigger role.

Oh no...you said the "t" word. You must be very racist. I am exaggerating a little bit Actually I have tons of respect for you but still the word thug should be eliminated. I thought in the other thread we went over the racial connotation of the word. Would it not be better to say that Suh is a consistant rule breaker and a heel on the field? The "t" word should be avoided at all cost just like we no longer say the"f" word that rhymes with mag or the "n" word.
The word originated in India and is at least 700 years old. It is commonly used to describe the behavior of British soccer fans. President Obama used the word to describe people who rioted in Baltimore — then doubled down when challenged. It is what it is, and is an apt description in this instance. Which is what makes him so difficult to root for.

If the meaning has been skewed by rap artists who tattoo it on their bodies, or pious declarations on National Public radio by Baltimore politicians, so be it.

Barkley won't make it to 2 but yeah.
Their FA and draft will be the biggest apology to a Manning we have ever seen. It’s as if someone hijacked the team last year right under Mara’s nose.

Assuming Pats continue to lay low in FA what kind of comp picks can they expect in 2019? I'd think Butler, Solder will return 3rds with Dola, Lewis also returning mid-range value. Have a feeling NE is going to use this opportunity to reload in a couple years in the draft. Or at least build significant draft capital to have some flexibility in 2019.
Essentially let Butler walk in FA in exchange for Danny Shelton and a high 5th this year.

I am a big Butler fan, but that deals makes me like the Gilmore deal (5/$65/$40 gtd) from last year much more.

The Butler deal should be good for a 3rd round compensatory pick depending on who the Pats sign.

Taking an RB in the first half of the 1st round let alone #1 is a joke these days. Barkley is good, but you can get a RB to give you similar value at a fraction of the price. I can't believe he's going top 5.
Can’t believe it as in it’s dumb or can’t believe it as in you don’t think it will happen? Because one of those is a much more reasonable take than the other.

As a GM, I don’t understand how you look at last year’s draft and realize 2 of the top 3 RBs were taken in the 3rd round and think about drafting a RB in the top 5, unless it is literally your only hole. Especially with such a deep group in this year’s draft.

It is also a dollar and cents thing too. Your best shot at putting together a dominant team these days is to have a extremely good QB or similarly very highly paid position player on a rookie contract. You can have LeVeon Bell for $14 million per year or a WR coming off a full season injury in Allen Robinson for the same price. Who knows $14 million might end up being the price for a middle of the road LT if the Solder market is as hot as it seems?

On the one had I agree philosophically but are we sure Ezekiel Elliott was a bad choice at #4, and what if you had someone who looked even better with zero of the baggage?

I'm aware he's going to go very high. I just don't agree with it.
All it takes is one, and I think there are two — Cleve and NY.

Maybe Cleve’s plan is to squeeze some extra picks from the NYG and take their preferred QB at 2. That would be smart.

well Alfred Morris and Rod Smith combined to provide essentially the same results as him last season in the games he missed, while Jalen Ramsey who was on the board is already an elite CB which is a lot harder to find than a servicable RB.

Running backs usually have very short shelf lives in terms of peak performance. A good situation would be to turn over RBs every few years playing on cheap rookie deals. Barkley is going to be making around $32 million if he goes #1. Kareem Hunt is making a total of $3.2 million in his rookie contract.

Yup. Not only do you have the opportunity cost of not taking a guy playing a more valuable position (like Ramsey in Zeke’s case) but you’re also committing a larger portion of your cap than most teams to one of the least valuable positions. Unless you have someone else’s pick, there is usually a very good reason why a team is picking that high and one impact RB isn’t going to change much.
