I took ‘league personnel’ to mean team employees and not players, ie coaches, trainers and Dorito Dink types, but I may be misreading it. If I’m not, they aren’t part of the Union.
Remember back when people were accusing Kaep of showboating because he'd never had to pay any kind of price for what he was talking about so it was an ironic expression of his own privilege?I've gotten behind in this thread and thus have skipped some posts, so sorry if this has been addressed, but anyone claiming that the anthem-kneelers haven't made their point clear is being willfully ignorant.
Absolutely! The real issue here is the willful misinterpretation of Kaepernick's actions and motives.I've gotten behind in this thread and thus have skipped some posts, so sorry if this has been addressed, but anyone claiming that the anthem-kneelers haven't made their point clear is being willfully ignorant.
The other non racist owners are Lurie in Philly and ironically Christopher Johnson the interim owner of the Jets who says he will cover all player fines or suspensions. How could you leave those 2 owners out? I'm honestly curious Tyrone why you call Jeffery Lurie a racist since he has been one of the most vocal Anti Trumpers around. In addition, he now has Bennett, Jenkins, Long etc on the Eagles who are leading the protests. Please provide evidence of Lurie being a racist. It’s very racist indeed. It’s a racist rule put together by racist owners (even Kraft) that voted for 45. They’re allowed to get away with it because there’s a racist in the White House right now who shouldn’t be there but is and he emboldens 60 million racists and ignorant people that voted for him.
I will be boycotting the NFL again this year. Until this racist rule is overturned and Kaepernick is signed there’s no need to watch. It’s easy once you get past week 3. Hell I caught up with past seasons of GOT instead of watching people beat the hell out of each other for the amusement of racist NFL owners like Kraft, Rooney, Mara, Jones etc...the only one who might not be racist is Davis.
They were. Trump to Eagles: FUThe Eagles sound like they were uninvited from going to the White House tomorrow because all of the players weren't going to stand for the National Anthem. The team offered to send a smaller group to go but from the sounds of the statement from Trump they were told no.
Trump said Eagles fans are still invited to the White House "to be part of a different type of ceremony—one that will honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem.
Yup. The Trump playbook is out that we all can predict these reactions from him now. Really would like to see the players join together for a symbolic gesture. Maybe have the QBs kneel on the first play of the game for every team. Would obviously never happen but something like that would be pretty powerful. If DJT didn’t withdraw the invite, the story would’ve been the poor turnout. This narrative is better for him.
Let's not act like the thought hasn't crossed Steve Kerr's mind. The next championship team should just pretend to be excited to go the White House and then not show up when the time comes. I can picture Trump holding a single balloon waiting for everyone to show up, sad.
Interesting point that he was fine with a non full Patriots roster and Wentz, Peterson and Foles were planning to go (without those three ok).Philly columnist Marcus Hayes not happy with Trump:

Some congresscritter should get them 75 tickets to a white house tour.Interesting point that he was fine with a non full Patriots roster and Wentz, Peterson and Foles were planning to go (without those three ok).
So I wonder how much was the eagles at the front of the protesting or that Lurie was an HRC donator and not Trump?
You answered your own question.Interesting point that he was fine with a non full Patriots roster and Wentz, Peterson and Foles were planning to go (without those three ok).

This, but also timing.Interesting point that he was fine with a non full Patriots roster and Wentz, Peterson and Foles were planning to go (without those three ok).

Lurie was one of the biggest donors to Hilary Clinton's campaign. He also has been a big supporter of Malcolm Jenkins and the protest movement. Lurie presumably was ok with any of his players skipping the now canceled White House visit and did not exert any pressure on his players to attend. We do not even know if he voted for the anthem ban since there was no official vote. Chances are Jeff Lurie was against the ban. I just don't get particularly after yesterday's actions and also viewed in the lens of his greater life activities and achievements anyone can simply throw out the racist accusation aginst Lurie. It is simply "lazy".Ok Lurie probably isn't a racist. Bully for him. In fact, many of the owners are probably not out-and-out racists. They all profit off of a league that is enacting a racist policy, which seems more germane to the discussion.
Your correction has been noted. Repeatedly. It has no bearing on the larger discussion, which is how the league is handling the anthem protests.Lurie was one of the biggest donors to Hilary Clinton's campaign. Much more likely to be "ops" than "oops."Department of Oops:
No Eagles knelt during the anthem last season, so Fox News used some unrelated footage of an Eagle player kneeling in prayer.
I still think the NFLPA should all get together and have all teams skip the first 2 or so weeks of Anthems by staying in the locker. Simply state that by singling out a portion of their Union, the union has voted to take the right given to the players by the owners to remain in the locker room to avoid singling out individual members of it's union based on their beliefs.Really would like to see the players join together for a symbolic gesture.
Why do you think that there isn't a substantial % of players that think kneeling for the anthem is 100% wrong and disrespectful. I bet a huge number of players and coaches agree with the rule.I still think the NFLPA should all get together and have all teams skip the first 2 or so weeks of Anthems by staying in the locker. I would stand an applaud this every time it happened, as a side note I'm not sure I've in my entire life been so pro-union as I am for the NFL players right now. Even as a Pat's fan with a ticking clock in Brady's legacy I'd be 100% ok with a lockout right now.
This is probably true; but I think a significant number of them would be willing to help their teammates not be singled out.Why do you think that there isn't a substantial % of players that think kneeling for the anthem is 100% wrong and disrespectful. But that's what these things are - photo ops for the president. I've never been a fan and are hoping that this is the end of it permanently. If DJT didn’t withdraw the invite, the story would’ve been the poor turnout. This narrative is better for him.

And hopefully the end of the National Anthem and flyovers and such at sports events, right? The blessing that is disguised by POTUS' incredibly fragile ego is the death of nonsense like championship White House visits and the stupid WH Correspondent's Dinner.
Nothing to do with the rule that says they can't kneel, I am sure. This is the reason why the NBA doesn't have players kneeling. They are allowed to speak their minds (and do it).
We would be better off if we followed the British (at least for the Premier league) model and restricted our patriotic celebrations at sporting events to things like major championships, national team events and Veterans / Memorial day. The EPL remembrance day celebrations in November seem much more impactful because you know they don't do things like that every game. As an American, I don't feel any more patriotic because we spent ten minutes before a pre-season game in a massive patriotic display. As "one of the troops" I don't feel like America appreciates us any more or less when there is a fly over. Though, from an aviation nerd perspective, some flyovers are really well done and most Americans don't get enough opportunities to see what their tax dollars are paying for.And hopefully the end of the National Anthem and flyovers and such at sports events, right?
Could not agree more with all except the last sentence. (And I don't really disagree, it's just that I don't feel that sporting events are the venue for it.)We would be better off if we followed the British (at least for the Premier league) model and restricted our patriotic celebrations at sporting events to things like major championships, national team events and Veterans / Memorial day. I can't even remember when the "tradition" of a White House visit for major championship winners started (I think it was with Reagan) but it's time has come and gone.As for visits to the White House, as someone stated above, they are just a stupid opportunity for the POTUS to wrap himself in someone else' glory that he had nothing to do with. The politics around them, whether this nonsense from Trump, or Tim Thomas being made out to be a bad teammate and person, are noxious. As for the WHCD, that is what got us Trump, so buyer beware.
We're kind of at the point where every assertion from the White House has to be treated as a shameless lie, aren't we? What a world ...I would like to see the receipts from the Trump Admin on the Eagles really booking 81 slots at the White House and then telling the White House three days prior that they were only bringing 10. IF that is real, and I am not inclined to trust them, then Lurie is an asshole here as well.
But the display itself costs tax dollars, right? Wouldn't most Americans prefer to see their tax dollars used to repair crumbling bridges or to provide healthcare for those who don't have it rather than on some useless fucking circle jerk? I know I would.some flyovers are really well done and most Americans don't get enough opportunities to see what their tax dollars are paying for
Can we make an exception for all games against Canadian teams so we get to hear Oh Canada?Nothing to do with the rule that says they can't kneel, I am sure.
