Agreed. We shot 45 FTs so can’t complain but those calls were just bad.The officiating in that overtime was brutally bad, in fact, watching college bb generally the officials seem to be calling every touch foul in every game. Is there some point of emphasis this year that games are to be called much more tightly. It's ruining what are great games. BC has no one to blame but itself, definitely should have closed this out in regulation.
Right, I'm definitely not blaming the loss on the officials, but the frequency of calls was just terrible. The teams were battling great and the refs allowed zero flow to the gameAgreed. We shot 45 FTs so can’t complain but those calls were just bad.
Couldn't agree more. There were like 80 FTA in the game last night. C'mon. That isn't fun for anyone.Right, I'm definitely not blaming the loss on the officials, but the frequency of calls was just terrible. The teams were battling great and the refs allowed zero flow to the game
Yup. He's already done more than everyone else on the bench. There is real potential for a solid 4 year bench contributor here. I'm ready to cut the cord on the Vin Baker Jr experience. He just doesn't belong at this level.I haven't had a chance to see him play much in Chestnut Hill, but those Herren numbers are impressive. I really didn't think he'd contribute that much this year (or even next year) based on the very SSS of watching him play in HS. The skills were there, but he didn't really dominate the way one would have thought he would. Glad to see him playing so well.
Troy Bell belongs on that teamI'm putting both Hamilton brothers on the All-Time BC Physique team. Jared starts with Malcom Huckaby in the backcourt, with Jairus, Craig Smith, and Uka Agbai up front.
My favorite surprise video types are:Really nice win against DePaul today. On the road, right before Christmas, trailing the entire game, they could easily have packed it in and headed home for the holidays. Especially after missing 14 threes in a row. Instead they fought hard and hit some big shots and took it away in the last few minutes.
Looks like Jared Hamilton will add some meaningful depth, and Herren continues to prove that he's legit. They showed a segment during a TO from earlier in the week where Christian gave all the players Xmas gifts, and Herren's was an official scholarship. Very cool moment for him.
I’m officially done with this loser. His teams routinely fail to get up against crappy opponents.A Jimmy Christian special again - up 3 at the end they screw up another end of game situation and lose in OT to a 6-8 Hartford team.
Given how the AD loves mediocre coaches, JC will probably be signing an extension any day but he is just bad.
Yeah the second half officiating was insane. Va Tech is the better team especially without Tabbs, and with Mitchell playing at 50%.So, this was overall an encouraging game. We sorely need Tabbs in ACC play, and need Mitchell/Chatman to be healthy again to give us a better chance to stay with these teams.
BC got hit with a comical number of ticky-tack fouls in the second half. On the that fouled Herren out, the game was decided but every BC player threw their arms up in collective disbelief. When Herren got back to the bench, instead of Christian yelling at the refs, he visibly mimicked correct defensive posture for Herren to watch. A small moment, but I found it telling that Christian decided to go for a showy bit of coaching instead of backing up his guys and going to bat with the refs after getting shafted all half. It sure looked like Herren played defense on that play exactly how Christian was demonstrating it.
Yup, Ultimate screw job.wow. y'all got hosed on that block call
I should have posted that sooner. They went on a 16-0 run after I posted it to make things interestingHis many times has an opposing player had a career high against BC this year?
Yet another disappointing showing. . .
Big comeback as well,as FSU was up double digits for a long stretch in the first half.Good win even though FSU is overrated. Missed most of the game (have to save my eyes for 7 hours of NFL) , but shocked to find them up double digits earlier.
Makes the ND game more frustrating. That was stolen by the refs.BC's got all their scholarship guys healthy now, tide could turn for them somewhat the rest of the season.
My guess is, given it's a Leonard Hamilton team, that BC had an edge in this game in court sense.Good win even though FSU is overrated. Missed most of the game (have to save my eyes for 7 hours of NFL) , but shocked to find them up double digits earlier.
It was a terrible possession as far as executing a play goes, but Bowman made the shot to bail them out. This is the type of game they've been losing, but WF helped them out with 16 turnovers and 5/23 from 3, so it's good to get one their way for a change.BC with a hard fought win today, missing Wynston Tabbs.
Niko Popovic was immense and carried the offense, with Chatman having a hot shooting game. Bowman struggled badly, but was about to make a bit of a circus 3 pointer with 16 seconds to go.
Next up ND, and they need to find a way to play 40 min this time
I remember the days when Roberts Center would be electric when the Cuse visited. Most of the games lately could be played there again (capacity 4,400).What's with the turnout tonight? I remember the days Conte would be electric when the Cuse visited.
midweek and Celtics playing at same time? What's with the turnout tonight? I remember the days Conte would be electric when the Cuse visited.
Tabbs being out (and injured when he did play some) is not an excuse, but then again he was the second best player on the team, and in the last t handful of games before the injury he was their best player most nights. It is not an excuse to be this thin at this point, but how many teams aren;t significantly impacted by losing their second best player for 2 months (and counting)Hope MJ has the guts to actually make a move. Seriously, not much more to say about this team. They can't concentrate for 40 minutes collectively. The Tabbs injury has been killer, but that's not an excuse. Teams that are missing good players can at least hang their hat on defensive intensity and we have none of that currently. JC to me lacks the capacity for reinvention and will continue to throw the same losing strategies out there, expecting different results. The only question is whether MJ will act.
Does anyone have thoughts on why Mitchell is so invisible on offense? He is a crucial player to have on the court but we need him to command attention from defenses. It seems mental with him, I hope Christian has tried to get him to be more aggressive as that could open up a lot of good shots for everyone.
I think we know exactly the reason. We get like 5 fans / game and students could care less about basketball. Christian has actually recruited pretty well given the limitations and has done far better than Donahue did. Unfortunately, the results haven't been there. The biggest issue is recruiting. Most if not all of the other ACC teams are getting at least one four star recruit every year. We've had 1 in the last ten years (and at this point I seriously question Hamilton's rating). Its really tough to compete when you're so far behind talent-wise. And that is not just a Jim Christian issue. For whatever reason BC just isnt attractive to big time players.
