1/3 of the season done, Cody Bellinger has been easily the best player in MLB so far, well ahead of Trout. Fangraphs has him at 4.2 WAR today (Trout at 3.4), before he gunned a runner out at home with a strike from RF and hit a go-ahead HR off DeGrom.
Yeah, that was just ridiculous although helped by an idiotic slide by Gomez. This was the earlier one, both were on the fly and strikes and both were literally run-saving, really amazing.
Wow, that is one of those that looks geometrically impossible, Vogelbach is a beast. The ones down the line are never as long as you think, though...@jon abbey
Apparently statcast is down so now we can all speculate how far this Vogelbach MOONSHOT went, that landed in the THIRD DECK in RIGHT FIELD

Sosa had 14 swinging strikes, 5 strikeouts, a groundout, and a walkoff single in the 16th inning of this game:Javy Baez struck out five times today against HOU including 13 swing and misses, that is tough to do (most by any player in a game in at least a decade).
Wait, how much were the Cubs trailing by if Sosa had 7 at bats just in the 16th inning? And the catcher must have dropped at least 4 of those third strikes to let the inning keep going.Sosa had 14 swinging strikes, 5 strikeouts, a groundout, and a walkoff single in the 16th inning of this game:

I have no comprehensive way of searching for these.
You mean riding a bicycle and drinking merlot doesn’t qualify him as such?
Just went yard again; OPS for the season up over 1.000 now.5 of Dietrich last 6 hits are homers.
He also just marched his career high in homers.
29 hits on the season, 16 of those are home runs.
What in his career stat line told you he was going to play this well? He's 29, had a 751 OPS last year with a 140/29 K/BB ratio with a career high in HR (16) and PA (551). What distinguished him from the rest of the utility crowd? Sure, his home park may have masked some of this, but then why didn't 28 other teams jump on him?Dietrich's a Cleveland native, plays LF and could have filled in at 2B while Jason Kipnis started the year on the DL. He was such an obvious fit for the Indians, but I guess a non-guaranteed $2M contract was too rich for Larry Dolan's blood.

He didn't need to play anywhere near this well to be an obvious fit for CLE as FFA says, pretty sure he talked about him when he was a FA here. CLE has been so desperate in the OF they've already signed and cut the carcasses of Hanley and CarGo, the CLE native and the ability to play 2B too made him an obvious fit. What in his career stat line told you he was going to play this well? They had Bauers and Martin locked in at 2 spots. They already had Naquin, Greg Allen, Jordan Luplow on the roster. They signed Matt Joyce, who didn't work out either (and releasing him was probably a mistake given his part-time performance in ATL). They signed CarGo late after that. They got Ryan Flaherty on a minor league deal to play utility. They thought they had better options than Dietrich. And, again, what stood out in Dietrich's stat line that indicated he was any better than any of these guys? It certainly wasn't cost, as implied above, because CarGo was going to cost $2M if he'd hung around. It could have been Sean Rodriguez or Chris Owings or Neil Walker or someone of that ilk too. I just think it's ridiculous to criticize Cleveland for such an "obvious" option that's not that obvious except for the Cleveland native stuff. He didn't need to play anywhere near this well to be an obvious fit for CLE as FFA says, pretty sure he talked about him when he was a FA here. I certainly wasn't expecting his current performance, but he was always a much better option than Tyler Naquin (who really has no plus tool and gets injured every year), and Jake Bauers was no lock to start. They entered spring training without a good idea of what they were doing in left or right field. They also lacked any decent option for a utility infielder, with an emphasis on 2B/3B. At the time Dietrich signed he was definitely the best free agent left for their needs (trust me, I was tracking them). This isn't 20/20 hindsight or just me, there were rumors the Indians would acquire him at last year's trade deadline, and more rumors over the winter. He and Adam Jones* were who I was calling for in January in the Adopt-A-Team forum. They would have been a big help to Cleveland's biggest problems for a total of $5M.What in his career stat line told you he was going to play this well? You guys may be aware, but after 55 consecutive games without a triple, the Indians have hit 3 tonight. Baseball is a funny game. The Marlins and Indians are both still looking for their first triple of the season. Going back to last year, the Marlins have played 59 consecutive tripleless games and the Indians 51. I can't find the record for consecutive games without a triple, but the 2017 Blue Jays hold the record for fewest in a season with 5.
4 errors and at least as many mental mistakes in the field. Every single player on the infield (plus Greg Allen) screwed up their own play in the 4th inning. Trevor Bauer looked like he was ready to punch a few teammates in the face... and he would have received a standing ovation if he had. The two wins in Boston sort of put the panic on hold for a couple of days, but tomorrow is about as must-win as you can get at this point in the season... and starting the next two games are the two rookies who are only in the majors because of injuries. The White Sox thump the Indians for the second straight night and pull into a second place tie in the Central, a whopping 10 1/2 games behind the Twins.
Also the ‘ballboy’ was their 60 year old equipment manager, kind of ridiculous that they didn’t let the runner from first score given that IMO.Ballboy down the 3B line just made a great backhand on a scalded ball in NYM at AZ
Only problem was that it was a fair ball in play
So Karma does exist.4 errors and at least as many mental mistakes in the field. Every single player on the infield (plus Greg Allen) screwed up their own play in the 4th inning. Trevor Bauer looked like he was ready to punch a few teammates in the face.
