Assuming it’s more than about a tough season. May signal a slight rebuild and DD not the right guy to execute it.Massive overreaction
Agree. He had little to do with the starters (aside from Erod) collectively shitting the bed this season. Otherwise his firing makes little sense.I bet there’s more to the story though. Has to be.
3gms? This sounds like a great idea
Excellent point.Facing a tough decision on Betts; sign him long term, trade and get what you can for him, or let him walk. The person making that decision needs to be here long term, not someone in the last year of their contract.
Who would want this job? Deliver a WS. Have an off year with incredible financial handcuffs and get fired?Interim situation. They say a full search will take place after the season.
Gee ... who created the financial handcuffs with the Sale and Price extensions?Who would want this job? Deliver a WS. Have an off year with incredible financial handcuffs and get fired?
Dave had a lot to do with the payroll.Who would want this job? Deliver a WS. Have an off year with incredible financial handcuffs and get fired?
I remember when Ben Cherington/Jed Hoyer co-GM regime delivered Josh Beckett in 20053gms? This sounds like a great idea
GM by committee. By mid-season next year we will have identified the Brandon Workman of the front office.3gms? This sounds like a great idea
Theo is closing in on 10 years in Chicago and things don't look too rosy out hereMaybe the Sox can lure back Theo as Emperor of the Fenway Sports Group
Excellent work.Dombrowski to the Raiders as comp for Antonio Brown.
There are 30 MLB teams and many, many people working around professional baseball (and many more if you include all the hotshot wannabe-GMs that frequent SoSH other Sox-centric internet platforms) who would take a job GM-ing the Marlins or Royals in a Keith Hernandez heartbeat if they got that shot. I don't know that the Sox will hire their next great GM off the back of this move but they will likely have people beating down their door for the seat. This feels like a bad idea and I can't imagine anybody other than a hungry internal candidate would want to be on that hot seat after DD lasted <365 days after a title and exec of the year campaign.
I imagine GM/head of Sox baseball ops is one of the most highly sought after job in all of baseball. There wil be no shortage of very qualified candidatesThis feels like a bad idea and I can't imagine anybody other than a hungry internal candidate would want to be on that hot seat after DD lasted <365 days after a title and exec of the year campaign.
Are you kidding me? They're trying to hide this behind the Pats. The equivalent of a Friday night political news dump.Yeah, a pathetic attempt to get the Patriots off the front pages of the sports section.
I’m guessing Humphrey was being sarcastic. Are you kidding me? They're trying to hide this behind the Pats. The equivalent of a Friday night political news dump.
