They are calling it an illness, but he also took a hit to the head on Feb 7th. Illness or concussion-related?Kase hasn’t played lately because of an illness, not injury.

If they do that, you can think of it like cashing in on the surplus of left shot players they have been playing on their off wing and essentially replacing one of them with Kase.Yes I hope he does. Kase now makes one of the young wings expendable.
My grandmother would have loved him:TIL his last name is pronounced KAH-Sha.
How is it a big gamble for "this year" when the only on-ice player we're losing is Backes? This is exactly the kind of guy you take a shot at.When he's on the ice, he's been good. But he's been injured a lot the last 2 seasons and hasn't played in 2 weeks. If this is Sweeney's big upgrade, it's a big gamble for this year IMO.
They are at 24 players on the roster right now. I’m guessing they’ll demote Kuhlman or Lauzon before tonight’s game. They have 15 forwards on the roster right now with Kase. Another move is probably coming.
If Sweeney thinks that they need to upgrade the roster to better compete with Washington and Tampa and Kase is his choice to do so, it's a gamble with his injury history. He has an extensive concussion history and is coming off a torn labrum that ended his season last yearHow is it a big gamble for "this year" when the only in-ice player we're losing is Backes?
And Heinen and Bjork (and Donato).Same draft class as Pasta.
But you're comparing him to other players where we have no idea what they would have cost or if they'll even be dealt. If Sweeney thinks that they need to upgrade the roster to better compete with Washington and Tampa and Kase is his choice to do so, it's a gamble with his injury history. Can they wait until he arrives? Or is he automaticaly on the roster when traded? They are at 24 players on the roster right now. I’m guessing they’ll demote Kuhlman or Lauzon before tonight’s game.
His cap hit for Boston would be $1 million in 2020/2021 and then $250K in 21/22.Anyone know how the cap hit changes for next year if he is bought out?
I assume not much
Saves them an additional $500k next year, costs them $250k the year after.Anyone know how the cap hit changes for next year if he is bought out?

He must be an Animal.TIL his last name is pronounced KAH-Sha.
They have about ~19 million in space for next year. Krug, DeBrusk, Grzelyck are the big ticket items. Bjork and Kuhlman need new deals but shouldn’t be expensive. I assume Chara will sign another $2 million + incentives contract if he wants to keep playing.Does this make it easier to re-sign Krug, or did they not free up enough room?
Let's stick to hockey and leave your front office Red Sox anger issues analogies to your blog or FB.I can't be critical of Sweeney/Charlie for this move. If Bloom/Henry would have made this deal, they would have sent Pasta instead of Anderson and retained 50% of Backes' salary instead of 25%. And in 2020, Price is a better pitcher than Backes is a hockey player. That's how I'm choosing to look at it.
Let's go win the Cup. Hopefully Kase will be an important part of that happening.
I think that was worth the prospect by itself. The team's chances of winning a SO just increased drastically...assuming Cassidy runs him out there now that he has the option. He's 4 for 5 in shootout attempts this year, which makes him already the best SO player on the team. Career 50% in the SO.

Yep, quick hands down low and a nice shot from near the boards. Plus, at least in the clips, he looks like he plays fastThe man appears to know how to use a stick. Goddamn, a few of those were awfully pretty.
