This. Reilly was bullied in the playoffs and we need a sturdier piece at LHD.I thought Reilly got bullied in his own end in the playoffs. I’m not opposed to this, but I need someone more sturdy on that side so he and Gryz aren’t top two pair. I think he’s fantastic for the regular season, but his issues in his own end showed up once playoffs rolled around.
Not sure if they need sturdy or just someone who can take top 4 minutes (like Schultz) so that Reilly has softer matchups.I thought Reilly got bullied in his own end in the playoffs. agreed. He started doing these soft hinge passes to breakout after skating the puck out consistently prior to that. He was nursing something.I’m very convinced Reilly was hurt in the playoffs. He could barely skate at points.
I think it depends on Krejcis deal.He also adds Forbert will head to Boston as well.
6 years to Coleman is brutal, and potentially Belesky level bad. Nice player, and he could help the 3rd line, but yikes at that term and AAV. He’s barely passed 20 goals twice in his career. Let’s hope that’s not real.
That is what frustrates me about the narrative. He's a good player but does Blake Coleman win you a cup? I don't think so. I can understand resigning yourself to cap hell if you're bringing someone Chris Pronger in his prime to give Bergeron one more shot at a cup, but this is Blake Coleman. You can bolster the roster AND not destroy your future when you're talking about complimentary players.Wonder if the non-QO about face is tied to Coleman. They basically took the money headed to Ritchie and Kase and re-directed it to Coleman? Roughly the same dollar amount. Also, this would bring DeBrusk's status back into question. Do they move him, or shift him to RW permanently? I suppose Coleman has played C too so they could put him there and kick Coyle to RW.
I think he'd be a huge upgrade in the short term, but obviously a 6-year deal is fraught with risk. Most of the beat writers seem to be writing it off as once the contract becomes an albatross, they'll be in a painful rebuild anyways. Not sure I totally agree with that line of thinking. We're likely headed towards a painful rebuild, but they do at least have cornerstone players in McAvoy and Pastrnak. I wouldn't want to completely hamstring some of their prime years for a 1-2 year run with the Bergeron core.
Yeah, I'd rather go nuts on a contract for Hamilton than overpay for a role player (as good as Coleman is). That is what frustrates me about the narrative. Sure, but Hamilton has shown zero interest in being a Bruin. Maybe Coleman is one of the few players who fit what the Bruins are looking for that would actually choose the Bruins over other options.Yeah, I'd rather go nuts on a contract for Hamilton than overpay for a role player (as good as Coleman is).
Yeah, Hamilton is probably a bad example. I just plucked him because he's the top UFA. Point I was making is that I would prefer splurging on an elite player more than a role player. I guess the problem is there aren't many elite options on the market this year.Sure, but Hamilton has shown zero interest in being a Bruin. Even if not this year, I'd rather wait another year or two when there are some potential guys who are game-changers. I don't want to waste cap on a guy like Coleman if you can make a run at Barkov next year to be Bergeron/Krejci replacement. Maybe that's just wishcasting and he goes the Landeskog route and re-signs, but I want space available for those guys. The mid-level deals for guys who are going to be 3rd-liners or bottom-pair D by the end of a contract are the ones that kill teams, and Sweeney has done well to get the Bruins out of those situations in the past couple years, but I'd prefer to not get back into new ones.Yeah, Hamilton is probably a bad example. Rumors are Goligoski is going to MN.20 minutes before the bell opens, though the bell rang a while ago.
My prediction is Goligoski/Edler, Holtby and a depth F.
Don't want to kill them just yet, but yeah. Running it back with some tinkering on the margins isn't going to get the job done.I don't know what I was expecting but I'm pretty mad.
