Glad to see Penn State get the win. I was surprised they had Stout handling the place kicking duties. They have the #1 placekicker from last year's class Sander Sahaydak. Or even Jake Pinegar for that matter.
Defensive coordinator Brent Pry dialed it up, and new OC Mike Yurcich made some critical and effective adjustments in the second half. One thing is certain: Brandon Smith and Jauquin Brisker are the real deal. And Ellis Brooks was playing a great game until the questionable targeting call.
Noah Cain, who was injured on the first play of last season's disastrous start and missed the entire season, returned and showed in the second half why he is a very promising runner. I was surprised we did not see any of Devyn Ford or Keyvone Lee - both very capable runners, given that a lot of pre-season talk had speculated about an expected run-corps-by-committee.
And I believe Jahan Dotson may have struck fear in most B1G defensive backfields minds.
But most of all, given the doubts that understandably may have crept into Sea Clifford's mind given last year's debacle, I think he got his feet under him against a very good Whiskey defense. This game likely gave him a nice shot of confidence going forward.
