Probably not even close, unfortunately. Hertl is a really good player. I bet they get a 1st and a good prospect for him without retention.Hertl (UFA end of season) + (Retention) for DeBrusk(RFA end of season) and a 2nd? Does that get done?
It’s quite literally insane. But it’s a super enjoyable watch.Saw that this documentary was just added to Netflix. Haven't seen it, but I plan to in the coming days.

Okay, thanks -- I look forward to watching it.It’s quite literally insane. But it’s a super enjoyable watch.
Wouldn't he have to go through waivers once he plays for them?Management/players still seem to think there's a possibility of Krejci returning. No idea if they mean this season or next, but they keep bringing it up. Bergy with the latest today:

Hard to gauge, but looks like Krejci signed with HC Olomouc. They appear to be pretty bad, finishing 12th in a 14 team league last season. Of course, Krejci is likely the best player in the league now so that should help. Last year, the team was knocked out in the wild card round in mid-March. Not sure if that's a standard schedule or if they had covid delay things. The NHL trade deadline is 3/21/22 this year so he'd have to be back on the Bruins by then to even be eligible for the post season. Seems doable based on last seasons calendar, but if he leads his team to even one more round, then it pretty much can't happen. The other hurdle I see is, as far as I know, if a player plays in a foreign league, they need to clear waivers once they sign with an NHL club. So I don't know what would stop a rival from just claiming him to block the Bruins from getting him, even if Krejci says he won't play for any other team. Maybe I'm wrong about this stipulation though and it changed in one of the CBA's.
Anyways, figured it was noteworthy since Sweeney has also said that hopefully he's back at some point.
Some other minor notes from the golf tournament today:
- Bergy wasn't sure if they are 100% vaccinated but said if it's not 100% it's close.
- Coyle will be limited when camp opens. Said the knee thing was bothering him for 2-3 years.
I thought once a player plays a game in another league, that's when they need waivers. Rask, for example, wouldn't need waivers if he signs mid-season because he wouldn't have played elsewhere. I always remember this rule from the O'Reilly offer sheet years ago. If Colorado had declined to match, Calgary would've had to put him through waivers before he could join (Colorado could've taken the picks and then claimed him since, IIRC, they were in last place at the time).Wouldn't he have to go through waivers once he plays for them?
Been a while since I'd thought about Reijo Ruotsalainen.I thought once a player plays a game in another league, that's when they need waivers. That was like 2 CBA's ago though so maybe rules have changed. Krejci is also 35+ so that could add an extra wrinkle.
I'll try and find out what the rule is.
Edit: I thought the rule was in place so you couldn't stash a guy overseas for the year and then bring him over for the stretch run like some of the old Oilers teams used to do. The only way to bring a guy from a foreign league to your roster in-season without waivers is to have them on your reserved list. As far as I know, you can't put a UFA on your reserve list.
Unlike the Krejci’s, Bergeron’s wife speaks French as her first language as well, so I’m sure there is no issue there. I know your comment was made in jest, but it really is two very different family dynamics.I sure hope his children already speak French.
What should they have done? After the off-season the Bruins just had, I'd be saying the same thing.
Is "Scraps" DeBrusk's new nickname?Traded scraps for Eichel obviously
Depending on where you cut it, it works if he does something good or badIs "Scraps" DeBrusk's new nickname?
I like it. I'm gonna use it this year when he does something good.
