In other words, PP gets Wanamaker's minutes from last year.Going by last year’s playoff minutes, there will be 16 non Jays minutes, and 21 non Smart/Kemba minutes. If Fournier can play 30 minutes, there will be only 7 minutes for non centers, assuming TL and TT divide the center minutes.
yikes, what was he 1/10 there?Right after Cs blow out win the other night, someone filmed JP working on his shot. Love the work - and I'm no shot guru - but doesn't it seem like he could really tweak his form? Never a fan of bringing the ball behind the head with that release point plus a flat trajectory.

I’ve told the story several times of Chris Wilcox, career 64% FT shooter coming off a 56% season, casually knocking down 50+ FT’s in a row in a gym one summer in Raleigh, NC. Your average NBA player is going to make 7 out of 10 of those uncontested jumpers in drills that Jabari is clanging with many not even close.yikes, what was he 1/10 there?
LOLyikes, what was he 1/10 there?
That was the inaugural short lived horse tournament on all star weekend in 2010, the contest ran long so they turned the final round into a top of the key 3 point shootout between him and KD, and Rondo, a 21% 3 point shooter that year hit like 6 in a row before finally losing.LOL
I'm always amazed when I watch NBA guys shoot in practice and before games with no defense, even bad shooters. I remember seeing Rondo make like 20 3s in a row like it was nothing. Tony Allen just knocking down jumper after jumper.
That brief video from Jabari may have been the worst shooting from an NBA player with no defense I've ever seen. Yikes.
Edit: HRB beat me to it. That was mind blowing from Jabari.
Yeah, I remember that one too. That was the inaugural short lived horse tournament on all star weekend in 2010, the contest ran long so they turned the final round into a top of the key 3 point shootout between him and KD, and Rondo, a 21% 3 point shooter that year hit like 6 in a row before finally losing.
Yo Jamal. Nobody is disrespecting the grind. We are simply disrespecting him working on perfecting flawed mechanics, a flat trajectory, and horrific results. It’s like he’s practicing being bad......and doing quite well at it I may add.Jamal Crawford: "Some who aren't at this level will say he " missed " a lot. That's exactly why he's still in there getting right. We've ALL been here. I respect it the grind. Love to see it."

"Some of you who aren't at this level will say he missed a lot". Well.......Yo Jamal. Nobody is disrespecting the grind. We are simply disrespecting him working on perfecting flawed mechanics, a flat trajectory, and horrific results. It’s like he’s practicing being bad......and doing quite well at it I may add.
His shot looks exactly like mine. And I'm terrible.Very rarely do I ever say “yeah, I can do that” when talking about anything a professional athlete does in their sport. I could totally do that.
You can fix it.His shot looks exactly like mine. And I'm terrible.
It's funny because for his career he hits about 32% of his 3s, in over 600 attempts. Not good obviously, but the only NBA players who looks that bad with no defenders are guys who never shoot outside of the paint. On the Celtics that would basically be just Tacko and Thompson. Parker is nobody's idea of a 3 point ace, but he's orders of magnitude better than the type of player who would look that bad with no defenders. Hell, Ben Simmons can do better than that.
The mechanics aren't bad if the ball goes in the hoop.A couple of memories from the '50s: Heinsohn's jump shot was both from behind his head and had a flat trajectory and Big Wilt used to hit all his free throws in practice. (Damn I loved those double headers in MSG)
If that was the new, I'd hate to see the old...People are making way too much out of a small clip. For all we know, he was trying something new with his shot and that was the result.
Also, Tristan Thompson can hit the 3 with ease in a non game situation.
From that brief clip it doesn’t appear he’s trying anything different at all. Instead he’s working on muscle memory of flawed and choppy mechanics. This isn’t a clip of Lonzo or Marcus Smart when they were working on fixing their form by repeating the corrected repititions......this is a player chucking up the same problems that he’s always had. What’s the old adage? The definition of insanity is doing the same things repeatedly and expecting different results.People are making way too much out of a small clip. For all we know, he was trying something new with his shot and that was the result.
Also, Tristan Thompson can hit the 3 with ease in a non game situation.
Parker plays a different position than Brown, so I would not expect a huge difference there. With Brown now done, if we don't see an uptick in this guy's minutes, you have to be 200% sure he's in the "just passing through" category, like Wagner was.
Maybe... but Brown being out could shift Tatum down to the 3 more, opening minutes at the 4 for Parker.Parker plays a different position than Brown, so I would not expect a huge difference there.
Rob Williams being out is what will, if anything, open up minutes for Parker.
I wouldn’t say the 4 but Jabari may be a better matchup with Tristan against Bam at the 5.Maybe... but Brown being out could shift Tatum down to the 3 more, opening minutes at the 4 for Parker.
And then a leaf falling will probably put him back in the protocol...It would be nice for Romeo to get some added time; of course, he'll probably be in the concussion protocol until the leaves start falling again.
You mean the $500K payment at the beginning of the season? That seems like a fair amount for a three month try-out. Remember he was originally due $1.1M and then they cut him and re-signed him so they could reduce that amount.View: https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1479539673496182785
He's getting cut.
Not surprising, why pay his guarantee when his role at this point was mostly... warming a spot for a trade or buyout.
No, I mean the rest of the season. Today is the last day you can cut a guy. After today everyone on a roster gets guaranteed through the end of the year. He'd have made 2.25M total this year, now whatever is left on it he doesn't get (probably 1M or so).You mean the $500K payment at the beginning of the season? OK. I was confused when you said "Why pay his guarantee"? Agree that he should be cut.No, I mean the rest of the season. Today is the last day you can cut a guy. the top 8 for the Celtics is quite good, all playoff team starter or borderline starters at some point, plus rookie deal guys. The Celtics are actually pretty deep by NBA standards, the last 3 guys on most rosters aren't good. Like Hernangomez... he has played under 100 minutes for us despite the COVID-pocalypse. He was a rotation player and sometime starter playing 17-19 MPG for MIN and DEN. The problem is we have a bunch of mediocre rookie deal guys taking up roster spots and we're always trying to re-set the tax, or open cap space so we shuffle the bottom and pay to get off salary. The C’s have really botched a lot of moves over the last few seasons. Feels like they are constantly having to add pieces or picks to get rid of mistakes. Assume that happens next with Juancho, who is making $7M and averaging 1/1/0. The Celtics roster beyond the top 3-4 guys has to be among the worst in the league.
The obvious answer is...If the top 8 is quite good and we have two stars….why is the team….not good? Tatum is an excellent player having a not so great year. Brown is very good, but not as good as we want or need him to be. Williams, and Horford are useful but flawed and not ready for prime time / past their prime… Smart and Schroder have their moments but are pretty fungible (and Smart particularly has been awful). I don’t really think much of anyone else on the roster at this point. Just seems like the team is totally reliant on a few players and when those guys aren’t playing or aren’t playing well, there’s no chance to steal a win. And through poor offseason decisions and lack of development, they are in the same place as they were a year ago.
I mean, the greatest success story is Grant Williams, who is putting up 7/3/1…a year after putting up 5/3/1. The leap he’s made from last year is basically 2 more points and 5 more minutes a game.
PBS had 2 small botched moves this summer/fall:the top 8 for the Celtics is quite good, all playoff team starter or borderline starters at some point, plus rookie deal guys. Probably. I think they just wanted the pick, expiring and TPE to use in trades, but I am also a Wright fan and think he'd be a better fit here than SchroderPBS had 2 small botched moves this summer/fall:
1. selecting Jabari over Mathews for #15
2. trading TT for Fernando >>> Hernangomez instead of just taking Delon Wright
I mean we know he can score and he did in his brief time on the floor. That wasn’t his issue here.“Parker showed scoring ability”??? Really?
that’s true, 4.4 points in 9.9 minutes is pretty solid and that ratio is only behind the Jays….which says something. I withdraw my earlier commentI mean we know he can score and he did in his brief time on the floor. That wasn’t his issue here.
He kind of did - along with his full range of limitations.“Parker showed scoring ability”??? Really?
The weird part of this paragraph is that a lot of it would apply to all of the Brad Stevens Celtic teams after his first year coaching. The obvious answer is...
We're deep but our 3rd best player isn't that good. Also, this team plays as less than the sum of it's parts because a bunch of guys are solid role players who all have the same weaknesses (they can't shoot 3s, and none of them is all that good at running and offense), and at least 1 of our 2 stars can't run offense. So after the Jays we have probably 6 guys than most teams would love to have one of in their top 6, but not their top 3.
