Will Myers (SD) called out at home sliding into Sevren (COL). Call eventually overturned because Sevren was blocking the plate. I know this became a rule recently, but can't remember a call being overturned because of it.
This year, perhapsOnly the Angels could pull this off.
Thankfully he didn't sign with TOR, would have SUCKED to have him in division, they were the runners-up to going back to HOU. NY tried to go after him, but I think he thrives on beating NY (among other things of course) and would never really have signed here, even with his buddy Cole here already.Verlander decided to just take it easy tonight and only throw six shutout innings with 5 K’s.
15-3. 1.73 ERA.

Verlander triggered a player option for next year, which he will most likely decline. He would be the best FA pitcher on the market. Some team's going to give him $80m/2 years IMO.Thankfully he didn't sign with TOR, would have SUCKED to have him in division, they were the runners-up to going back to HOU. The craziest thing to me about Verlander is that he was the more experienced veteran who helped a young Max Scherzer eventually become great in DET. Scherzer did not really become SCHERZER until he won the Cy Young in 2013. Verlander is only two years older but already had 5 top 7 Cy Young seasons by then and a MVP.
Manaea getting rocked tonightIt’s one game post-trades but Dodgers and Padres still feels like Varsity vs Junior Varsity.
At least against the Red Sox, Chris Davis was a better pitcher than Corbin is at this point. He’s like the Chris Davis of pitchers at this point
Lack of offense with Rizzo/Stanton out is why they lost tonight and why they have lost in the postseason in recent years. If NY loses the division than trading Montgomery will likely be part of the reason, but he was unlikely to even make the postseason roster, depending on injuries of course. And in the poetic justice category, the Cards, led by Jordan Montgomery, shutout the Yanks 1-0. The MFYs are loaded, but I wonder if giving up Montgomery will come back to haunt them.
I believe catchers are allowed to go in to the basepath if the throw is offline. This throw was not offline and Sanchez was in the way of the baserunner. There's been a lot of lane slide violation overturns lately at the plate. It cost the Twins a game today.

The argument against the overturn is Merrifield had an open lane on the tail side of the plate, but initiated contact.
