I messed up by trying to go dry today, I def needed a few beverages to stop the shakes and I didn't do it.Ditto. 78 today on Stadium. One of the top 5 rounds of the day, but only good enough for 7th overall. Some people are very good at golf.

Yeah, that's a rookie move. I went straight for the Bloody first thing then just kept trying to maintain ODL (optional drunk level) for the round.I messed up by trying to go dry today, I def needed a few beverages to stop the shakes and I didn't do it.
Nah not a rookie move, just someone that is trying to detox from a very wet summerYeah, that's a rookie move. I went straight for the Bloody first thing then just kept trying to maintain ODL (optional drunk level) for the round.
Awesome, congrats and some good end of summer golf amongst the group here from the sounds of it!I finally put up a round with a 6 in front of it last night, shot 69 by going 39-30. I was +4 after six holes after birdie on #1 (had a weird lost ball double on 3 from the left rough). The back nine was just silly - I birdied 10 and thought nothing of it, after birdie on 11 I was thinking it would be neat to go three in a row and ended up going 5 in a row. I left a birdie on the lip on 15 and then birdie on 16 and par 17 and 18 (it was getting dark and I was rushing on 18, had 160 on my second shot and it's a par 5). Could have easily been a 28 or 29.
It's been a crazy summer of golf for me.
He should just do that every hole. [/Happy Gilmore]Also forgot to mention that one of my buddies got a hole in one on a par 4 yesterday during the round too. Pretty wild.
Since I made this post and switched to the Rogue, my handicap has gone from 9.4 to 7.9, and can probably go lower.Huh? I had no idea they changed the name, or that you were there. Friend of mine was (and maybe still is) a member there about 10 years ago, and had been for a while. We lost touch, but played the course close to a dozen times, and I loved it.
I'm in the Championships of the net flight club championship on Saturday. I'm the #1 seed in the B Flight, and played two matches last weekend, against arguably two of the biggest sand baggers in America. Both guys play over 300 rounds per year between FL and MA, and their handicaps never fucking move.
On Saturday, I'm giving 1 shot a side to my opponent. I played absolutely terrible on the front, and was 4 down after 7 (mostly due to having not played for about a week), and won the 8th and 9th hole to get to 2 down. Then I 3 jacked 10 and 11 to go back to 4 down. We both made par on 12, so I'm 4 down with 6 to play, and then I proceeded to win 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17, all with pars to go 1 up after 17. I fucked up 18 with a triple (I hate that hole) so had to go to extra holes. We both hit our second shots short of the green on the 1st playoff hole. I was about 20 yards off the front, and he was a little closer. I putted mine up to about 7 feet, and he chipped his through the green, and above the hole, which is death there and then 3 putted for 6, and gave me the par putt. With the triple on 18, I went 45/41 for 86, but from the 8th-18th hole, I was only 2 over with the 3 putts on 10 and 11, so I wasn't playing bad.
Interestingly, I've been hitting the same Taylor Made burner white-headed driver for like 10 years. Had no pop in it, but I hit it straight and couldn't go away from it. After hitting a not so great tee shot on 16, I kind of threw my hands up, driver flew out of my hands (I'm not a club thrower) and landed on a fence off the tee box about 6 feet away, and broke in half, so I had to play the next 3 holes, all par 4's with a 3 wood.
On Sunday, I grabbed a demo Calloway Rogue and went out without going to the range or anything. I was giving 1 shot, and it was back and forth all day. He won the 15th to square it up, bringing us to the short par 4 16th. I was about 70 yards out, and my caddie wanted me to play a low wedge into the green, because it was a little damp in the fairway. I called him off, and went with a 60 degree, stuck it to 2 feet, made birdie, and then he blew his tee shot out on 17, and that was it. I took a bogey on 18 (we didn't play the hole though) and carded an 81 with a driver I've never hit before. I easily added 20-30 yards with the Rogue, and told the pro to just ring the thing up and leave it in my bag.
Played with Rob Oppenheim's brother on Monday in a charity event at Framingham CC. I guess Rob just got completely dejected a few weeks back when he shot 60 on Saturday and then followed it up with like a 75 on Sunday, when realistically, a semi decent round gets him his PGA card for next year. Headspace isn't great heading into the KF Playoff events, but hoping for the best.
Alas, my lowest score has been a 70, and that was some time ago. It's always fun shooting in the 60s.
Funny enough, I didn't post a 69 yesterday because our men's league is 9 holes and they post for us. So when I play 18 they post the front 9 and then I post the back, so my 39 combined with a 37 from last week and now I have a 30 sitting out there waiting to be combined. It might really hurt me if I post a 36 next week.Damn man, great round! It's always fun shooting in the 60s.
It's been a while for me, though not for lack of opportunity. I recently shot 37/33 with a double on 17 off a straight hozel-shank driver on 17 with bookend eagles on 10 and 18. Then 2 weeks ago I was at -4 (par 71 course) through 15 when the thunderstorms came crashing in. I went to the bar for about 1.5 hours waiting for a break. Just sat watching the final round of the US Am and the BMW, drinking with the one guy who wanted to stick around to finish the round with me. Rushed back out between big cells to a totally drenched golf course and promptly made double (270* lipout), bogey (chip landed in a super wet spot on the green that didn't look wet) and 3-putt par from 25 feet on 18 to finish up with another 70. I the silver lining is that I didn't have to post a 68 (if I had just left), but my handicap is useless anyway. But. for future reference, drinking for a while and cooling down, rushing every shot to beat storms, and playing totally different conditions is not a recipe for success
Hah, I had that happen to me too. Had a 32 9-hole score sitting out there for a few weeks that got paired up with a 38Funny enough, I didn't post a 69 yesterday because our men's league is 9 holes and they post for us. Send them an email and they'll probably send you a brand new one of the latest model (driver, not child)Good news. Most fun I’ve had in a while taking my sons out there

So I did this and they actually are going to send me a Radspeed head to replace my speedzone. Score!Send them an email and they'll probably send you a brand new one of the latest model (driver, not child)
Lucky! When I called about my M4 a couple years ago they said tough luck.So I did this and they actually are going to send me a Radspeed head to replace my speedzone. Score!
Hell yeah! Congrats
Nice!!!
Thank you. Definitely nice to achieve a goal. Lessons paid off. Got a little bumpy mid-summer but stuck with it and got there.Sweeeeet!
The regression is always the start of something great lolThank you. Definitely nice to achieve a goal. Lessons paid off. Got a little bumpy mid-summer but stuck with it and got there.
Knew it was likely to get rough at some point but boy was it frustrating. I went on vacation and was unable to play for a few weeks and that was the reset I needed. I began trusting what I was doing and the last 4-5 rounds I was hitting the ball a lot better and building some confidence. The regression is always the start of something great lol
Your wallet must be getting pretty lightI could not have played worse for 13 holes in our member/member today. Like, couldn't hit the ball in the air kid of bad. Skulls into lakes. Chunks into woods. It was gross. Then on our 14th hole (4 on our course) I hit an approach to 1 foot for birdie, missed a 10 foot birdie putt for tap in par, 2 putt birdie on 6 then aced 7 for -4 for the last 4 holes. I had one hole in one in 49 years and now 3 since Memorial day. Pretty stupid
What's your goal? You'll have more fun on Bandon for sure, it's easier. Pac Dunes is way harder and can border on unfair depending on the wind.Need some advice from the group - I'm going to Bandon with my wife in October. Because of scheduling, we only scheduled one tee time at Pacific Dunes. We got a call from Bandon saying that we could switch to Bandon Dunes on same day if we wanted to. For those that have played there, if you had to play one for the first time, which would you go with? I've heard Pac Dunes is harder, but possibly more scenic? We both shoot in low 80s typically
Yeah, but they shoot in the low 80sI personally would play Bandon over Pac 10 times out of 10. Bandon is my favorite course in the world and the back 9 is magical, while Pac Dunes is my least favorite course there. That said - you’ll certainly enjoy both either way and I know many others who feel differently than me, so it’s all subjective.
I agree with this. There is nothing objectively better about pac dunes. I would say next to Old Mac it has the most strongly diverse opinions. There are as many that have it as their bottom course as their first. And not just because it’s “hard”.I personally would play Bandon over Pac 10 times out of 10. I'd argue Trails has the most diverse opinions. Old Mac is what it is, a tricked up goofy course that you either love or you hate.I agree with this. I still think this tradition is one of the stupidest golf "traditions" in existence. I'll buy my group a round, but screw the rest of the clubhouse. The bar was closed or the first 2 this year and today I had a little hok-in-one insurance of $150 but I think it's still going to be rough when I see the bill. There were 90 members there today. Funny thing, there was an ace in day one of the event yesterday too. It was her second one of the week!
That's why most private clubs have "insurance" where the cost of the hole in one is crowd sourced to all the members. You can get drunk with everyone in the clubhouse and not feel sick to your stomach the whole time.I still think this tradition is one of the stupidest golf "traditions" in existence. Yea, my club has that insurance. But I spend a lot of time on /r/golf and the amount of people there who talk about getting fucked by this stupid tradition boggles my mind. That's why most private clubs have "insurance" where the cost of the hole in one is crowd sourced to all the members. I love Trails by the way. Can’t wait to go back!I'd argue Trails has the most diverse opinions. Old Mac is what it is, a tricked up goofy course that you either love or you hate.
