It sure was the Blow Jays in this game. It's going to be hard to get over. Getting swept at home.
That seems highly unlikely.Amazing, congrats Mariners fans! Now beat the Astros, please!
If so, how bad does that make the Red Sox?Maybe the AL East wasn't as tough as we thought.
Blue LaffsIt sure was the Blow Jays in this game. It's going to be hard to get over. Getting swept at home.
Came here to say that. TB scores one run inMaybe the AL East isn't so great after all.
Or shit happens when you play a best of 3.Maybe the AL East wasn't as tough as we thought.
Not an Astros fan, but to the extent this makes YED more likely, then I'd have to be for it.And the AL East representatives are down to one.
Damn shame Houston is going to eviscerate this Mariners team.
Agreed! A Cleveland-Seattle ALCS will be greatAmazing, congrats Mariners fans! Now beat the Astros, please!
I watched the Red Sox all season, and they were very very bad. Especially watching the Guardians and Rays pitch, I thought, "What was Bloom thinking?"If so, how bad does that make the Red Sox?
Thanks for keeping the thread going this year, by the way. I was going to start it but you got there before me. Seeing as how much better you did with it than I did with the Royals, I am glad you did.
We'd do that right after the new server had been builtIf the Red Sox had blown a playoff game like that, I would need to be sectioned.
Logan Gilbert, Luis Castillo, Robbie Ray and George Kirby, plus the best bullpen in the AL might have something to say about that. And they are much deeper on offense with a healthy Julio than they were a week ago, and are the best defensive team in the AL to boot. That seems highly unlikely.
They badly disappointed last year also, missing the playoffs by a game.Weren’t the BJays WS faves sometime in the spring? That is a disappointing team.
The Sox owned the Mariners this year!If so, how bad does that make the Red Sox?
In past seasons didnt all teams get a layoff? On balance, I think being able to set up the pitching and get rest has to outweigh rust. Yaneverknow.I wonder how the layoff will affect the teams with byes. They've obviously been the best teams this season, so talent will out. But this is new territory for MLB where teams with byes have had this much time off.
Unsure, but the teams with byes will have a six-day layoff, as opposed to two for their opponents (in the AL at least)In past seasons didnt all teams get a layoff?
Five days off for bye teams, Thurs-Mon.Unsure, but the teams with byes will have a six-day layoff, as opposed to two for their opponents (in the AL at least)
Okay, but still a first time for thisFive days off for bye teams, Thurs-Mon.
They talked shit all year. Whined. Got in bizarre unnecessary fights because their egos were bruised by nothingburgers. And now they got their asses handed to them. It's really wonderful when things like this happen.Blue Jays talked a lot of shit to the Sox so I’m enjoying this epic collapse
How many calls for Cora’s head would there be here?If the Red Sox had blown a playoff game like that, I would need to be sectioned.
I forgot that, until tonight, no one other than Lou Piniella had gotten them there.Happy for M’s fans. They’re busting out, and rightly so. It’s been a long time since playoff baseball was played in Seattle.

Gilbert as well. He only let up 5 ER+ in 3 games this year, and had QS's in all 4 of his games against Houston. I also think the games in Seattle favor Seattle more than the games in Houston favor Houston, if that makes any sense. It would be a serious surprise to me if Houston steamrolls this team. If "IT" is a real thing, these Mariners have a lot of it.Castillo twice gives the M’s a real puncher’s chance.
The second time would be on 3 days rest in game 5, almost no one is good on 3 days rest.Castillo twice gives the M’s a real puncher’s chance.
