I doubt it, he’s 3 years younger than Scherzer was a year ago; and I’m sure his reps will play up the considerably less mileage in his arm (that’s why my Mets fans always say when trying to convince me that deGrom will pitch forever and make the HOF even though he has like 80 career wins).He’s a little old for that. I’m thinking the Scherzer model (3 years, high AAV).
At 34, the play should be to get as long a deal as he can.
At worst / best, something like 4/$140 seems likely. Would the Red Sox be in on something like that?
