I do wonder if teams use unconventional defenders on him. Who will be Wemby's Semi?TL might be able to get a piece of that shot - if he's active the two days we play Spurs, of course

He's thin, and you can already see guys can get under him and push him back. He didn't like the contact on the one drive he missed.I do wonder if teams use unconventional defenders on him. Who will be Wemby's Semi?
You just know strong guys like PJ Tucker will be gunning for him.I do wonder if teams use unconventional defenders on him. Who will be Wemby's Semi?
Again I expect Marcus to absolutely try to stop him. You and @PedroKsBambino are on to the low center of gravity types giving him some discomfort. He will learn to ignore that at some point. You just know strong guys like PJ Tucker will be gunning for him.
And the Anthony Edwards super athletic slashers will be looking to posterize him on defense. I hope he stays healthy.Again I expect Marcus to absolutely try to stop him. I agree, and he'll also get stronger. He's pretty agile, and so long, I would worry about my traditional 5 on him (though many 5s today are Horford-like anyway).Again I expect Marcus to absolutely try to stop him. That’s the most revelatory thing about his game so farDude can definitely pass too.
Really? His size may be deceiving - to me he looks effortless out there even with his flaws - and he is a 19 year old kid so he has a bunch. As Jones and Doris note, he's been talking big workouts too but that could be BS.I’m hoping Wemby is awesome, but he definitely needs to improve his conditioning
Hmmmm just told someone at the poker table that the thing I like best about Wemby's game is that he's an unselfish playmaker similar to LeBron when he entered the league. No Doris, Wemby is not a "playmaker more than anything else".
Doris Burke is at your poker table?Hmmmm just told someone at the poker table that the thing I like best about Wemby's game is that he's an unselfish playmaker similar to LeBron when he entered the league.
I mean....that's like his game.Doris Burke is at your poker table?
oh It’s impressive and effortless at times, but other times he is just walking or not even contesting , getting in position etc. Spurs have been subbing him out pretty quickly too, so I think they know as well.Really? Yeah he was pretty awful last year....really bad in that he was the same player he was as a rookie when he couldn't earn minutes on the Hornets. The Champagnie is a little flat tonight.
Bouknight is garbage. Another garbage pick by MJ’s team
Don't know if you are still watching but Jones just shared an anecdote from a "current NBA player" who spoke with him at the half and also noted conditioning. You may well be on to something.oh It’s impressive and effortless at times, but other times he is just walking or not even contesting , getting in position etc. Spurs have been subbing him out pretty quickly too, so I think they know as well.
I mean, it’s Summer League and he is 18 or whatever. Just first observations. The movement, coordination and dexterity at his size is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
We'll see how he bulks up, but he basically profiles as a rich man's Porzingis. KP has at least 25 pounds on him now, but gotta assume he'll make up at least some of that.My first thought watching him is how many paint-dwellers of his frame have been superstars in the NBA the past 30 seasons? Obviously he’s stretched very high, but his center of gravity against the bulky forwards and Centers is going to be seriously put to the test. He will obviously fill out some, but how much we shall see.
His early years could be a real struggle, though he might also be getting that Giannis treatment from the refs. The league desperately wants to crown this guy.
I’d like to see more of his post game, because the handling we’ve seen tonight I mean I dunno. Small sample, nerves, etc, but at least tonight he looks very awkward putting the ball on the floor. We'll see how he bulks up, but he basically profiles as a rich man's Porzingis. We'll get a real good look at what's supposed to be his worst case scenario, assuming good health.
Ralph was skilled but Wemby takes it to a whole another level.I agree, and he'll also get stronger. He's pretty agile, and so long, I would worry about my traditional 5 on him (though many 5s today are Horford-like anyway).
There's a lot of Ralph Sampson to his look and game, for those who go back that far...
Wemby will be a difference maker on defense. Not sure 8f they've played against each other before but in the 1H, Miller wanted no part 8f Wemby 1 on 1.I don't see how he is going to be a difference maker in the first couple years, happy to be proven wrong.
When things go well, they look super impressive. But more often than not, it's a discombobulated mess.
I'll take Kristaps over Wemby from 2023-2025
His son, Buddy is probably playing for Detroit SLWynn/Encore casino is THE place to be for LVSL. So many of the teams and other bb guys are here. Just chatted it up w Jim Boeheim when he was waiting for seat at poker room. Super nice guy.
Champagnie put a poster on someone tonight from the Hornets too. I was watching from a distance. His son, Buddy is probably playing for Detroit SL
on another note, Kabengele playing for the ATL Hawks SL team

So many Threads.Other Champagnie.
Yes but can he do the Eclipse? An optimistic look at Balcerowski, big guy with good mobility and touch:

I think that's a skill that he might be able to develop.Yes but can he do the Eclipse?
Watched a lot of him this year...probably more than any HS player ever aside from LeBron and Marbury. Kid has got some serious game everywhere. He's pretty mature skill wise so wonder how much upside he has though. Not directly Summer League related, but highlights of Cooper Flagg, the #2 ranked high school player in the Class of 2025, from Newport, Maine.

Upside is probably more on the physical side. Maybe he grows another inch or two? He also needs to add some upper body strength like any 16-17 year-old. Love the skillset though.Watched a lot of him this year...probably more than any HS player ever aside from LeBron and Marbury. Kid has got some serious game everywhere.
