They sure are celebrating:Rays had it. Blew it twice. O’s have easier schedule, plus 2 extra games to play. They prob won the division today.
This was a good article. Starters not showing up for voluntary infield practice before a Dodgers game, guys being late for meetings and buses, endless team meetings that changed nothing. Pretty much what everyone assumed.Article on the Padres and their lack of clubhouse culture. Basically putting it on Machado

You hate to see itMachado clearly has a lot of power and influence, he just isn’t using it to be a leader.
Cora might be a good match for the Padres. This was a good article. Starters not showing up for voluntary infield practice before a Dodgers game, guys being late for meetings and buses, endless team meetings that changed nothing. Pretty much what everyone assumed.

Thanks so much for this recap. Haven't had a chance to follow the race the past week so this is a fantastic catch up for the last two week of the season.Blue Jays 84-67, remaining games: @NYY (2), @TB (3), NYY (3), TB (3)
Astros 84-68, remaining games: BAL (1), KC (3), @SEA (3), @ARI (3)
Rangers 83-68, remaining games: BOS (1), SEA (3), @LAA (3), @SEA (4)
Mariners 83-68, remaining games: @OAK (1), @TEX (3), HOU (3), TEX (4)
One of these teams won't make the playoffs. This is insanely close and could easily come down to the last day, October 1.
Notable tiebreakers (remember there are no longer any game 163s):
-Toronto over Houston
-Texas over Toronto
-Seattle over Houston (Seattle has clinched already, 8 out of 10 with 3 to go)
-Houston over Texas
-Texas over Seattle (won 5 of 6, just need two more)
=================
D-backs 80-72, remaining games: SF (1), @NYY (3), @CWS (3), HOU (3)
Cubs 79-72, remaining games: PIT (1), COL (3), @ATL (3), @MIL (3)
Marlins 79-73, remaining games: NYM (2), MIL (3), @NYM (3), @PIT (3)
Reds 79-74, remaining games: MIN (1), PIT (3), @CLE (2), @STL (3)
Two of these teams won't make the playoffs. The Reds are pretty behind the 8-ball at this point, but the three teams in front of them have at least one tough series left.
Notable tiebreakers:
-Miami over everyone (Cincinnati is 3-3, but worse intradivision record clinched already)
-Reds over Arizona
-Arizona over Chicago
-Chicago has no tiebreakers in their favor
I was there yesterday and his stuff was electric. But the vibe suddenly changed in the 8th inning when he was out of the game. I just knew the Reds were going to waste his effort. That is the kind of game that a team that knows how to win wins, the Reds are not there yet.Hunter Greene might be my favorite pitcher to watch in baseball. He's had some rocky starts throughout his career, but his stuff is just insane. 14ks through 7 innings for Cincy right now.
None, and I think that's very unusual.Has a manager been fired this season? If not, is that par for the course lately or unusual?
During the 2022 Major League Baseball season, firing managers was all the rage. The Phillies canned Joe Girardi on June 3, the Angels axed Joe Maddon a few days later, the Blue Jays terminated Charlie Montoya in mid-July and the Rangers got rid of Chris Woodward in mid-August.
I agree, but it sure seems like we say this every yearIf the Brewers can just get consistent offense in the playoffs to go along with the pitching, look out.
The Royals, who have won 4 in a row and are 8-2 in their last 10Rangers back in first in the ALWest, by a half-game over the Astros, who lost at home to the Royals.
KC and Pittsburgh playing well at the end of the seasonThe Royals, who have won 4 in a row and are 8-2 in their last 10
Arozarena left the game with calf tightness as well. Both 90+ win teams in the AL lose - the O's and Rays, of course. O's pitching is flagging out there, Rays lose a key piece probably for the season:

SD is 7-0 since this story ran, I bet they wish it had come out a few weeks earlier.Article on the Padres and their lack of clubhouse culture. Basically putting it on Machado

Francona is not being fired but sure looks like he is retiring.Has a manager been fired this season? If not, is that par for the course lately or unusual?
What’s Phil Nevin got to do to get fired?Has a manager been fired this season? If not, is that par for the course lately or unusual?
Yet amazingly still the better of the two 7/245 deals given to WAS players that offseason, as the other was to Strasburg. From ESPN...Anthony Rendon finally shut down for the season.
What a horrible, horrible, horrible signing.
"Signed to a seven-year, $245 million deal with the Angels before the 2020 season, his time in the American League has been injury-riddled. The most games the former Washington Nationals star has played with the Angels in his four seasons were the 58 he logged in 2021. He has batted .249 with 22 home runs and 111 RBIs in 200 games during his time with Los Angeles."
As long as they don't get swept by Seattle they should be OK with Seattle and Texas beating each other up. Although losing to the Royals is not good.Astros trailing the Royals again, this time 3-0 in the fifth. Could Houston actually fail to make the playoffs?
