Game 6 - It was not Death, for I stood up

i wasn’t expecting a game thread start with Emily Dickinson giving me the chills and making the hair on the back of my neck stand up but here we are. Lfg. I have a dumb rehearsal dinner thing tonight and will miss most of this. Good luck and Godspeed to you all.

Yup. And sounds like he was trying to use a side median, was asked to stop by an officer, and tried to keep going.

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

So I think that part speaks to what I meant when I wrote "might lend itself to more blowouts." That's certainly the reward part. Feels like there is a risk there too that's all. Again phrased it as a question because I legit dont know, was just throwing it out there. I do know (while obviously...

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

To be clear I wish Tatum saw it more like Coach Joe haha. Just trying to provide a potential and partial explanation for why it was generally slower than reg season.

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

I heart this post. One possible explanation in the form of a question for the lack of running: is it possible they played a slower version of offense against the Heat & Cavs simply because there was such a talent gap and it was basically a way to minimize variable outcomes? A more wide open, up...

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

of course, but Denver was still close to double digit favorites at home...and yet found themselves losing the first half each time. Yet as annoying at times as the last couple celtics games were, they didnt lose a half. So when we're talking about "playing down," it's in extremely small stretches.

Jayson Tatum's Rise to the Top

Wow. I never would've guessed he did that in the finals against Golden State. That's gotta be up there with the single greatest postseason series performance ever.

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

Right. I mean they weren't as heavy favorites, but the defending champs were behind at the half of all five of their games against the Lakers. But they went 4-1 at the end of the day. Did they 'play down?' If so is anyone remotely concerned about that moving forward? Did the Lakers simply 'play...

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

Agreed but at same time this is only their second crack at moving beyond Ime. I think part of this board's (at least mine) pushback against the national narrative around them is that they seem to be getting dinged for already failing this year too. "They didnt beat the first two teams easily...

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

IANOOTVBPH (see bolded above), but i think the key word is "appeared." they are 8-2, and definitely played down for stretches...but in those ten games they had 2 bad losses, 1 single digit win, and 7 double digit wins (and of those there were 4 wins of 20+ points). That does feel pretty close to...

I hate that I read this post right now. Hate it.

Game 5 - Do not go gentle into that good night.

Appreciate the history lesson here, thanks! You know you've watched Seinfeld too many times when your first thought after reading your post was "Dad, you and John Cheever?!"

Game 5 - Do not go gentle into that good night.

I agree it will be Swayman, but one counter to your historical point is that I cant imagine there is a long and storied history of a team having two legit #1 goalie options who truly split the load over the regular season.
