Figured I'd get a thread out for the last month before the season starts.

This article by Elliott Friedman about the craziness around the Subban and Hall trades and the Stamkos signing is really excellent. I also appreciate his disclaimers about using anonymous sources to provide context but not bash players on their way out of town. Refreshing and worth the read.

I'm not sure Pastrnak would do it for the Jets. Winning the lottery and getting Laine changed the equation for them. They are pretty much set up front with Laine, Scheifele, Wheeler, Little, Stafford and then up and coming guys like Ehlers, Dano and Kyle Connor on the roster. They don't seem to have a pressing need for a forward.

Apparently the Jets want an similarly aged and established LHD in return for Trouba. The Bruins don't have one, but fortunately the majority of the leagues doesn't have one either. The Bruins only hope would either be that the Jets back off and accept futures, or they find a 3rd team. Hampus Lindholm is unsigned and fits the bill as a comparable LHD to Trouba. Bruins futures to Anaheim, Lindholm to Winnipeg, Trouba to Boston is the only way I can think of to make it work.

Problem with that is Hampus Lindholm is head and shoulders a better player than Trouba. If you find a way to get him away from Anaheim you keep him and make him your franchise player moving forward.

The thought/rumor/idea whatever you want to call it that makes some sense and posters have discussed is futures to Anaheim for Cam Fowler, then Cam Fowler for Trouba.

Trouba has more upside than Fowler, but Fowler is a better player right now. Breaking point might be that Fowler only has 2 years left n his eak

I can't even imagine how much we're going to hate Shaw the next 5 years. He's Marchand if he was a Hab. I've hated him since the 2013 Finals

ECHL "prospect" and a conditional pick next year go to Edmonton. 3rd rounder that becomes a 2nd if Yakupov scores 15 or more goals this season.
