I really do think this year's team has more talent and more experience than last year's team. It took about 10 games for opponents to figure out how to counter the changes Cassidy made -- put big bodies on the speed players, clog the neutral zone, look for offense in transition before the Bruins can get back and set up in the defensive zone.
.
I don't know enough to know about the talent, but the fact that the hot streak now seems like it was only based on a newish system which opponents have seemingly figured out suggests that they really are short on talent.

Jacobs needs to fire the whole front office, bring in a new president of hockey ops & let them rebuild. It's the only way out of this. Only guys I'd keep are Bergeron, Marchand & Pastrnak. These dip shits will probably trade him.

I'm starting to legitimately wonder if Jeremy is dead for as little as he's said the last couple of years. And Charlie's sweet on Cam, so fat chance of him doing the deed.

And as irrational as it is, I'm petrified Neely will decide the problem with the team is guys like Pastrnak and make an anti-Kessel trade.

Yup. And they should be from outside the organization/family tree.

I hear about Neely talking to Sinden and I want to pull my hair out. Sinden was only successful because of Ray Bourque. My dog could have assembled teams with Bourque on them and had some success.

Rask & Krejci have no value. I'd try to move them with a pick for a cap dump that expires after next season.
I think you can get a mid round pick if the right team is out there. Vegas is an example but a team like Winnipeg or Calgary could have interest in Rask too.

I don't understand Backes with Bergy and Marchand. They're paying Backes 6/yr to sit on a line where Connolly sat for 700k/yr? The line was similarly effective with both players.

That's a little strong. Sinden could evaluate talent back in the day. Once salaries exploded in the 90's he didn't think any player was worth the money they were asking for (an opinion which many old school coaches turned GMs shared) and as a result his team sucked. He could tell if a guy could play though. I have my doubts if this management team can evaluate NHL talent at all.

If he'd waive his NMC to go sure.

Cehlarik had 2 assists against Montreal and 0 points in his other 10 games. Only 8 SOG total. I think he's a nice prospect who has skill but I thought it was clear after 5-6 games he wasn't ready.

3 years of this shit. I'm out. Blow it up. Something is fundamentally wrong if this this keeps occuring year after year. You can't blame Claude this time

He also had a goal disallowed and hit a few posts. More often than not he made the right play and added size to the Krejci line.

He certainly wasn't the problem when he was out there, might not be the answer but I'd rather see him on the ice than Accari or Hayes.

They could theoretically leave him unprotected in the expansion draft, however his NMC is set up, they don't have to protect him. You're left with Khudobin and MacIntyre and RFA Subban though.
If we're trading Rask, Krejci, and Chara then going to the bottom of the league and seeing if either of those guys can play isn't s bad idea. All I know is being mediocre every year and drafting 14th isn't helping them get better long term.

I laughed, then sobbed.
I feel so deflated today. I really hate that word, but it is appropriate.

I care too much about this team. Maybe I need to stop watching the rest of the year. The high heeled kick to the balls they have delivered to my genitals these past three years is just not worth it.

Not to pile on but North Star will be closing and becoming something more of a lounge or some shit. Not sure on the timeframe.

Curious to hear more...
at the risk of derailing a derailed season...

When you're at a Bruins game it's basically an assault on the senses. From the time the players step on the ice for warmups (and normally before even) the music is turned up to about 12 (to the point of cracking the speakers) and there are all kinds of flashing/strobing lights on the ribbon screens. During a game as soon as the puck goes out of play there's music/lighting effects and then Kelly what's her name comes on the mic screaming about this or that promotion. A song will play for 10 seconds (if) and then there's a different MAKE SOME NOISE something or other. There's a constant mugging for the camera to get on the jumbotron. When the puck's about to drop there's pump in crowd noise/screaming with more "GARDEN LEVEL NOISE!" crap. You can tell it's pumped in because as soon as the puck drops it magically cuts off to nothing. Perfect example of the lack of game awareness was the game against the Sens. It had ramped up a bit and the crowd was loud and chanting "Let's go Bruins" and people were excited. Then play stopped and it went on for a few more seconds until Poster got his cue that he had to play and he immediately started playing over the chant in slightly off time. Crowd died down and didn't pick back up when the game restarted. Also, how often have we seen the wave recently? It's all because of this kind of stuff. Focus on anything but the game. You too could be the Sal's pizza fan of the game! When I get home from a game I'm exhausted and I have a headache. Even when they win it's a drag and not a fun experience anymore.

When we got to the Pens game it was slightly before warmup. There was nice gentle background music. It was nice, but I figured when they started warmups it would start. There was a little music riff thing when they came out but it wasn't out of volume and the background music continued. We could actually have conversations with the people around us. It was nice but I figured when the game started the promos and MAKE SOME NOISE would start. Game started and .. there was none of it. There was just gentle music and/or organ. We could talk and hear each other. Yet the crowd still managed to be loud and into the game. Intermission came and the same thing. Other than a blimp flying around dropping coupons for free something or other there was nothing. Nice simple background music. There were a couple announcements but because the background volume was low they didn't have to be screamed. No speakers were crackling. We could talk! Honestly, it was amazing. So much so that I made a point of talking to some of the facility people on the way out to let them know what a pleasant experience it was. They said when they built the arena they spent a lot of time going to other buildings to get some ideas and see what worked and what didn't. Obviously it's a newer building and cleaner and better tech and all that but none of this stuff is related to any of that. I'd love for some of the Garden people to go to a game there to see how they do it.

I was going to give myself a birthday present and go to the Blackhawks game next weekend. Between the ticket prices and this nosedive redux, I'm not sure I want to spend $200+ to go to Chicago and watch the Bruins get blown out in the first 30 minutes like last year.

I hate what this team's done to me.

Don't bother. Last night was the worst experience I've had at a game in a long time. The building was like a morgue - even North Star was empty right after the game. The fan base is throwing in the towel too.

YMMV, but the Blackhawks game in Chicago last year was a ton of fun, even though they lost.

I ate the vast majority of a Pequod's pie, and proceeded to dissolve it in my stomach with Malört and Schlitz. Magical

This is funny to me because I attend a lot of Bolts games in Tampa. They are all about the onslaught of the senses, but people here love it. People even remark about how great of an experience they've crafted. So, while some fans (like you), particularly towards the more loyal die-hard contingent find it nauseating-grating, the average fan is all "OMG I had a GREAT time at the game, got on the JUMBOtron, danced to my fave ODESZA song, and killed it on the Bud Light party deck".

Keep in mind that I agree with you that it's frustrating when I can't have a minute talking to the people next to me without some stupid shtick, but people who don't attend games regularly seem to generally enjoy the theme-park like atmosphere. But, it's Florida, so maybe people outside of here actually enjoy less theatrics too.

Just go to Chicago, eat a nice meal, and drink your sorrows away during the third period at some bar. Chicago is the tits.

Zoso, it's interesting you mention Tampa because my sister and her family (who currently live in Tampa) were with us and when I finally "talked in the dugout" and brought it up she said the same thing about how awful it is there too.

I was actually offered tickets against the Preds and ended up turning them down for the same reason
