Probably nothing, but Lin has already tied his career high by hitting his 2nd HR of the season tonight in 42 PA. He already has 5 xbh. He's still only 23 years old which is about where he should be for AA. Slashing .350/.381/.600 for the year.

Swihart is currently 2/3 with a HR and Travis is 1/2 with 2 walks. They are having dreadful years atm so hopefully they get going.

and Lakins with another solid outing. 5ip 4h 1er 2bb/7k 88 pitches 58 strikes. Rusney hit his 3rd HR as well.

edit: or not. Looks like the HR was taken away. Looks like the box scores are all wacky in general. Sam Travis is now 2/4 with no walks.

Rogers Park
Devers hits his 3rd HR of the year.
Nice start for Ball tonight, 6 IP, 4 H, O R, 2 BB 6 K
I'm in Connecticut for work, and went to this one with some colleagues. The new park in Hartford is very nice.

Trey Ball didn't look as good to us as his line suggests, but always seemed to get a big strikeout with men on to wriggle out of jams. The gun (seemed questionable) showed him sitting 89. The Yard Goats struggled with his off speed stuff, but I don't imagine that will play as well at higher levels.

Devers, in contrast, looks tremendous — the Yard Goats clearly pitched him very carefully. The homer was a loud shot which never got all that high, and just cleared the fence in center above the leaping center fielder. He showed off good hands on a tough play at third. Danny Mars absolutely *stung* the ball for outs three times en route to one of the harder luck 0/5s I've ever seen. Tzu-Wei Lin looked competent, also, getting a big hit with men on.

edit: Or maybe it was Monge who hit the bases loaded double, not Lin.

And Devers just hit his 5th HR. 4/4 with 2 HRs, 4 runs, 4 rbi. Game is still in the 6th inning.

Well deserved for Aneury. He's enticing for an older guy. Hard to judge his eye since his numbers are much better the 2nd time through a league. Amazing Heiker is still around. 9 years in the org. Only 25 somehow.

Aneury went 3/4 today with 2 HRs. Rusney hit his 3rd of the year. Aneury for the year .406/.494/.609 with 13bb/7k in 82 PA.

And LIn extends his hit streak to 13 games with a 2/3 2 doubles performance today. Now at .356/.424/.610 over 65 PA.

Bobby Dalbec has been terrible lately. In 97 PA this year, 35k/10bb. Slashing .235/.330/.318. Everyone in Greenville has sucked, really. Luckily everyone in Salem is mashing.

Lakins went 5ip, 5h, 1er, 1bb/3k tonight. He struck out the side in the 5th for all 3 of his ks. 89 pitches, 59 strikes.

Ockimey hit his 4th HR of the season and Darwinzon is currently at 3ip, 2h, 0er, 1bb/4k, 50 pitches, 28 strikes.

Ockimey's numbers are great so far this season. Hitting .351, OPSing over 1

Where on Earth did this power come from? It's probably just a fluke, but it would be fun if it's for real. At 23 it's not like he's an old man for AA.

last years 3rd round pick Shaun Anderson with another solid start. 6 innings, 6 hits, 3er, 1bb/8k and a HRA. 84 pitches, 64 strikes. He gave up the HR and 2 of the runs in the 6th. For the year, that puts him at 33.2ip, 8bb/32k, 2 HRA, 0.95 whip and 1.87 era.

Devers hit a GS in the 3rd inning. His 6th HR of the year. Hitting .338 too. Ridiculous.

Jalen Beeks is currently at 5ip, 2h, 2bb/8k. He's having a great year so far. 27.2ip 12bb/34k.

As we approach Mid-May, Michael Chavis is still living oking like the first round draft pick he was. He had a good start that was ruined by a hand/wrist injury last season. Hopefully, this is more indicative of how good he is when healthy. Secondary numbers are positive w as well. K rate is manageable. Walk rate excellent. Would really help the system depth if he can keep this up.

Chavis is surprisingly only 21 so he really isn't out of place in hi-A. Per SoxProspects his defense is pretty good at 3rd but I have no idea how accurate that is. I do remember him being drafted as a SS but it was stated right away he wouldn't stick there.
Obviously he is blocked from moving up until Devers moves but I would imagine both would go up a level this summer.
That would have been followed by a Dalbec promotion as well but it looks like we may need to cool that off for a bit.

Edit: I was poking around a bit and saw that Chavis had an elbow issue that has kept him out of the field. So maybe he will be a good fielder but right now he is a DH.

What?
Devers now at .441/.529/.970 with a 15% walk rate and 15.7% K rate. Promotion to Pawtucket before the all star break seems likely if he keeps it up.

The sooner the better. There isn't much to be gained for him at this point torching AA pitching the way he is.

On the season so far, Devers slash line is....371 /.547/ .919.
Is this more of what you were looking for?

What?
I took the wrong numbers...for some reason the mlbfarm.com site lists career stats in reverse order. Those are his numbers from the DSL in 2014. Apologies for the confusion.

For those who prefer a traditional triple slash line, Devers is at .313/.382/.566 on the season. As an aside, the OBP/SLG/OPS format is incredibly confusing because the traditional data presented in that format is BA/OBP/SLG. I also still don't understand why the former is ever preferable to the latter since it eliminates relevant data and only adds an easily figured sum.

Travis Lakins (2.61 ERA, 43K 13BB in 38 IP) got promoted to AA, Jamie Callahan (1.38 ERA, 20K 0BB in 13 IP) got promoted to AAA, and Daniel Gonzalez (1.85 ERA, 25K 7BB in 24 1/3 IP) got promoted to high-A.

Trey Ball with unseemly 5.1 / 8 hits / 8 runs / 5 ER / 2 BB / 3 Ks / 1 HR line, but it sounds like the performance was much better as he retired the first 11 batters and then went 0-2 on the 12th. He gave up a hit + run single to the 13th and then induced a slow roller to short, which was thrown away. Two opposite field singles followed before Ball got out of the fourth, and then he couldn't get out of the fifth inning.

Shawaryn went 5.2ip with 9k/1bb and 2 er yesterday. That follows a 6ip 12k/1bb performance. In 35 innings of work this year, he's now at a ridiculous 53k/9bb. 36.3% K rate, 6.2% bb rate. In his first game of the year, he gave up 9er in 2 innings.

Since that point: 6g, 33 innings, 51k/7bb, 1.64 era, .200/.242/.292 against on a .324 BABIP. His whip is .845. He's struck out 39.8% of the batters he's faced while walking 5.5%. 69% of his pitches have been for strikes, 20% looking, 17% swinging. His GB/FB rate is .46. .18 on LD.

Also just noticed Tyler Hill's BABIP is .221. He is slashing .194/.308/.359 on the year in 121 PA with 11bb/23k and is 11/12 for SB. He had a great season last year. Look for him to turn it around.

3 games since this post.
Game 1: 4/5 with 2 runs, 3 rbi and a sb
Game 2: 2/4 with 1 run, 3 rbi and a HR.
Today: 3/4 with 1 run, 2 rbi, a double, 2sb and a CS.

That's a combined 9/13, 4 runs, 8 rbi, 3/4 sb, and a slashline of .692/.692/1.000.

He has raised his slashline from .194/.308/.359 to .250/.346/.431 with 14/16 sb, and 11 xbh in 134 PA with those 3 games.

Ridiculous.

Shaun Anderson gets promoted to Salem and his first inning wasn't too kind. 1.0ip, 6h, 6er, 1bb/1k, 2 HRA. Still in the game though.

Devers 3/4 with 2 doubles in the 2nd game of the DH.

Up to .333/.403/.604 for the season in 124 PA.
