I think some are reading too much in.

Kraft is sentimental in general and about certain star players in particular. If his HC/GM sees fit to bring one of the greats at corner who won a ring with the Pats, and didn't leave on good terms, back to the fold, then he's delighted.

Sure, part of his delight could be tied to tweaking the Jets, but Kraft's words seem pretty benign to me.
He's trolling everyone. This must have gone over big with Stephen A and Kellerman:

Owner Robert Kraft appeared on Tuesday’s edition of “First Take” on ESPN where he discussed the game and what it was like to overcome such a large deficit in the second half.

“With three minutes to go in the third quarter, we had a 99.6 percent chance to lose, .04 to win,” Kraft said. “Our guys believed in one another, and it’s a great lesson to young people never to give up, hang with people who are good character, who put their ego at the door and come together as a team.

“It was just a great moment of vindication for our whole team. It was pretty cool for our fans. Our fans have been behind us unbelievable.”
You go brotha Bawb; and lubricate when you do.

If he's getting $6MM from the Jets, money that is reduced to the extent that the Pats pay him, what's the incentive to chase after bonus money?
That's totally fair - tweak the numbers so he comes out ahead of the six million if he plays the whole season. My larger point was that the only way this works is if pride motivated him regardless. Compared to what he is used to, the huge money contracts are in the past.

Well the problem with that is I dont think the Pats want to pay him more than six million dollars this season given he was one of the worst players in the league last year. Even if it is incentive based, that's over market value.

I'm not sure any team will pay him more than that.
Any financial motivation would be to get a bigger context next year but I agree with sezwho, Revis needs to be motivated by pride and winning at this point.

If they really want him the answer is not to pay more in 2017, it's to guarantee something for 2018...that is new money for Revis. If you structure the right way, it may not even get in way of him being a FA again if he does well I'd guess---though would need to work through how that happens (one thought is something like his prior deal, with a high guaranteed salary for 2018 if Pats exercise option and a mil or two if they decline)

Well yeah, future guaranteed money is going to be appealing to him.

But no team SHOULD do that - because he's older, and was absolutely terrible last year. You don't want to start creating future dead money for players like him (although future dead money is a lot less meaningful with cap rollover)

Announces his retirement:

Don’t think Revis was anywhere near his apex with the Pats, but he made a solid contribution to a championship team.

Those Hard Knocks episodes when he beat Woody, Tanny and Rex like a drum — seems like yesterday. We’re all growing old together.
