Formula 1 2024: Ferrari's Return to Glory. Possibly. Ok, Unlikely.

Or he burned up his tires in sectors 1 & 2.

The Incredible Hülk Returns, 2023 F1 Season

That's a bit of an overreaction. Apparently he had flu-like symptoms earlier in the week and was severely dehydrated.

The Incredible Hülk Returns, 2023 F1 Season

Interesting concept, but I have no idea how you would manage that from a financial and manufacturing capacity standpoint. The teams are all set up to supply 2 cars through the season and you want to multiply that 10 fold? Not to mention, how fast would they have to build all those tubs, wings...

The Incredible Hülk Returns, 2023 F1 Season

But do you get all those penalty positions back as soon as you finish 2nd or worse? Would be pretty easy to manage.

The Incredible Hülk Returns, 2023 F1 Season

Did I watch a different race? Lewis and Perez had a side by side battle going, Lewis hit Perez and holed his sidepod. When Red Bull realized the extent of the damage they retired the car. I don’t see how that was in any way Sergio’s fault.

The Incredible Hülk Returns, 2023 F1 Season

Hell of a start by Max from the dirty side of the grid, and by both McLarens. What the hell were Ferrari thinking, bottling up Sainz on softs behind Leclerc on medium tires? Or did Leclerc ignore team orders? Nice job by Ricciardo to recover from getting knocked off track on lap 1 to finish...

The Incredible Hülk Returns, 2023 F1 Season

That's an awfully low bar to clear. EVERY driver on the current grid is so much better than Lance Stroll. He has a seat because his father owns the team. But yes, Alonso is also a historic, generational talent.

The Incredible Hülk Returns, 2023 F1 Season

I find it interesting there appears to be no mention on the F1 website of the near-disaster on pit lane when FIA personnel and dozens of others were allowed into a live pit lane before the end of the race. Ocon came in for his mandatory pit stop as he was starting his final lap and was greeted...

I love the smell of burning oil in the morning - The Formula 1 2022 season

Agreed - this weekend Ferrari was sort of boxed into a corner on tire strategy. Mercedes started Russell on the soft tire because they wanted him to get a good jump on the start and they have trouble building tire temperature on the harder compounds. Ferrari has no such problem this season, so...

I love the smell of burning oil in the morning - The Formula 1 2022 season

Ahead of the restart, it looks like Ferrari found a way to screw up the pit/tire strategy yet again. They'll be lucky to hold onto P4 & 5.

I love the smell of burning oil in the morning - The Formula 1 2022 season

Agreed. Clearly they were right on the ragged edge in an attempt to minimize drag, and I wonder if the zero-pod concept might hurt their ability to provide sufficient cooling in extremely hot environments. The lap charts don't really bear that out, especially when compared against the tire...

I love the smell of burning oil in the morning - The Formula 1 2022 season

Looking forward to watching Russell outqualify and outrace Lewis all year. Probably won’t hold up but I can dream.

I love the smell of burning oil in the morning - The Formula 1 2022 season

I hadn't heard about any of this until today. I am flabbergasted that F1 drivers are complaining about being required to wear fireproof underwear. Link I mean, pretty much the entire grid was acquainted with Niki Lauda before he passed away, and it's only been 2 years since Grosjean's Haas...

I love the smell of burning oil in the morning - The Formula 1 2022 season

Certainly hasn't happened yet. They're bending over backwards to find explanations for George beating Lewis thus far. The latest one is "Mercedes are experimenting with the car on Lewis' side of the garage, and he's carrying the burden of trying to improve the car." F1.com Weekend Warmup I...

I love the smell of burning oil in the morning - The Formula 1 2022 season

Yes, but ultimately it's a UK-dominated press covering the sport, and they will never question Lewis.

I love the smell of burning oil in the morning - The Formula 1 2022 season

Incredibly, today’s incident was more Stroll’s fault. Those 2 deserve each other.

I love the smell of burning oil in the morning - The Formula 1 2022 season

Great to see Ferrari back at the front and Haas competitive. Would love to see Mercedes struggle all year, I’ve had enough of them dominating in this era. Sort of looks like it’s more of a power unit issue than anything else.

I love the smell of burning oil in the morning - The Formula 1 2022 season

If FP2 is at all representative, we may have an interesting season to come. Of course we have no idea what anyone was running for engine modes or fuel loads, but apparently Alpine, Alfa Romeo and Haas (!) might be legitimate midfield contenders. I still suspect Mercedes is hiding their true...
