    Apple Laptop Help

Apple drops support for older Macs as they release new versions of macOS. For macOS 13 (Ventura) which should be out next month, they've dropped support for anything with a pre Kaby Lake Intel CPU. That means anything before MacBook Air 2018 or MacBook Pro 2017. macOS 12 (Monterey) also dropped...

WTF is wrong w/ my Chrome

It actually could be DNS since Firefox rolled out DNS-over-HTTPS to partner servers for privacy reasons. Can you try changing your DNS servers to one of the public ones like Cloudfare, Google or Quad9? Cloudfare: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 Google: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 Quad9: 9.9.9.9 and 149.112.112.112

WTF is wrong w/ my Chrome

Not necessarily. Chrome uses QUIC (Which uses UDP) for sites that support it like Google, Facebook and Youtube, and it depends if he has QUIC enabled in Firefox. That said, I think Firefox enabled QUIC recently.

WTF is wrong w/ my Chrome

If it is IPv6, you might be running into an issue with checksum offloading on Intel ethernet cards. Some of Verizon's ONTs are mangling the IPv6 packets, and some Intel ethernet chips can't deal with it. The fix is to disable TCP Checksum offloading and UDP Checksum offloading in the device...

WTF is wrong w/ my Chrome

Is your ISP Verizon FIOS? They've recently started rolling out IPv6 support over the last few weeks. Google and Facebook both support IPv6 so that could be why you're seeing it with those sites. It's odd that it would work fine in Firefox though unless it happens to be preferring IPv4.

    IdeaPad 710S Plus DC Jack

This depends a lot on the model you buy, and isn't specific to Lenovo. The Lenovo T-series business class laptops are fairly easy to upgrade RAM and the drives. The X1 Carbons can upgrade the drive easily but have soldered RAM. The manufacturers are making trade-offs to make newer laptops...

Recommend me a 55-65 inch TV

The MLB All Star game, the ALDS, the ALCS, and the World Series were broadcast in 4K HDR-HLG last year. It was an upscale of 1080p. I recorded them with my HDHomeRun Prime on FIOS. HDR-HLG looked great. The games were also available in 4K HDR-HLG through the FOX App 0on my Roku if you don't have...

My MacBook air is slow as molasses

How much RAM does it have? Apple's default configuration was 4 GB, but it was configurable to 8 GB. 4 GB is substandard these days and could cause it to be painfully slow if it runs out of RAM and starts swapping to disk instead.

    2021 All-Star Game Rosters

Huh? It decreased from 34 to 32 in 2017 and has been at 32 since. The increase from 30 to 32 happened in 2003 after the tie game, and the increase to 34 in 2010. The MLB announcement this year had 34 AL players and 33 NL players because of the injury replacements.

    HDR Sucks

This happened to me recently with a Roku 4K Ultra and Twilight Zone in CBS All Access. The auto-adjust display refresh rate feature on the Roku is very flaky. It can sometimes trigger a rapid succession of modeset changes to trigger the refresh rate. It's not an HDR specific feature, but has...
