The Next Pats QB: Daniels or Maye?

It's not like he's Chet Holmgren or scrawny at this point. He also majorly reined in his running style as the season progressed. He wasn't a reckless runner the back half of the year. While Daniels is QB2 for me, I recognize he has areas to improve. But some criticisms just feel made up to me...

The Next Pats QB: Daniels or Maye?

I think a lot depends on how you define "arm." Is it arm strength? How hard you can throw? Arm means different things to different people. Daniels probably has the cleanest throwing motion and quickest release in the class. He's also generally accurate with good ball placement. Is that part of...

The Next Pats QB: Daniels or Maye?

Sorry I didn't mean to come off as abrasive. I don't think Mac turned to goo solely because he got hit too much. I actually think Mac is physically pretty tough. I think he turned to goo because of a whole combination of factors. If there was a toughness issue with him I think it was more...

The Next Pats QB: Daniels or Maye?

Way back machine but I think Randall Cunningham might be his best comp.

The Next Pats QB: Daniels or Maye?

Saying Daniels has a below average arm is just wild to me.

The Next Pats QB: Daniels or Maye?

This is very confusing. Is there some magic threshold where if he weighed x amount, Daniels isn't going to turn into goo? What does Mac have to do with Daniels? They couldn't be more different. And the guy played in the SEC. Sure NFL teams will be bigger and stronger but there are plenty of...

The Next Pats QB: Daniels or Maye?

I'm just not seeing much reason to care about how much Daniels weighs. He has 5 years of sustained durability in college and I'm curious why people think that's going to suddenly change at the NFL level.

The Next Pats QB: Daniels or Maye?

If there is any football study that shows any correlation between weight and susceptibility to injuries, I'm all ears. I'm not aware of any.

The Next Pats QB: Daniels or Maye?

Arm talent is kind of a meaningless term that people use as a proxy for any number of things. Maye certainly isn't as talented of a thrower as Caleb Williams. Joe Milton definitely has a bigger arm, as does Penix. Maye doesn't have a "cannon." It's not Anthony Richardson. It's not Josh Allen...

The Next Pats QB: Daniels or Maye?

I like JT O'Sullivan, Kurt Warner and Kurt Benkert the most. I particularly like Benkert because he spent time in Green Bay and was in a couple of different west coast systems. He breaks down all the passes in a game and goes through the thought process with a pretty good attention to detail.

The Next Pats QB: Daniels or Maye?

I don't think Maye's "arm/arm talent" is nearly as special as people make it out to be (I assume when people use these terms they're talking about some sort of combination of velocity, accuracy, using different arm angles, and maybe distance--although distance doesn't really matter a whole lot...

    Patriots' 2024 Free Agency Thread

They tried to get Ridley and made an aggressive offer. Should they have given a 30 year old WR $30m/year with $60m guaranteed when he's facing the same cliff that OBJ, Julio Jones, and pretty much every NFL WR who relies on explosion and twitch faces and falls off from right around their age 30...

Judon was a great signing, so was Gilmore. I'm not saying you should never throw a bag at FAs. I am saying that Ridley, Jonah Williams, and Tyron Smith aren't those level of players. Spending for the sake of spending is dumb.

    1) They haven't signed all their own players worth keeping; Barmore and Judon still need signing and will cost against the current cap. 2) Having $50m in space doesn't mean they should spend recklessly on mid or questionable talent. Keeping the cap space open provides flexibility for trades and...

    Patriots' 2024 Free Agency Thread

Just went back to read the 2021 thread on signing Jonnu. So many were very excited and happy with the signing, and we know how that worked out. FA is a dangerous game and it's almost always better to sign your own players and invest in outside undervalued guys. But that's not as exciting as...

If they trade #3 for Jefferson, who is throwing him the ball?

    Calvin Ridley, you in?

Well yeah. The air yards per attempt helps explain his low completion percentage. His expected completion percentage takes air yards into consideration and says he was more inaccurate than he should have been.

    Calvin Ridley, you in?

I'm just not sure what Tennessee is doing. They have a group of expensive skill position players near the edge of the cliff and a QB who very likely sucks. Levis had the 4th worst completion % versus expected in the league, and I don't have a ton of confidence he's going to get better. If he...

My wish list (in no particular order) Mike Williams on a 2-yr deal DJ Humphries (he'll be an injury redshirt--or maybe PUP--but he could be your starting LT in 2025 at a bargain price coming off the ACL and late cut...this is a Bill looking to the future type move) One of the young...
