    Patriots' 2024 Free Agency Thread

You didn't think that playoff team with a rookie QB was fun to watch? I enjoyed that season.

    Non-Patriots Free Agency News 2024

Let's see what the restructure is first. If instead of taking a 15M salary this year he's taking a 2M salary and a 13M signing bonus, that's the anybody could be the coach effect.

It's not about the dollars. It's about giving up three picks, two of them prime ones, in addition to paying him top of the market dollars. I would suggest this is exactly the wrong time to do that.

You might be, yeah. Even if Jimmy somehow stayed healthy after serving his suspension, he'd be at best the 10th best QB in the AFC? Probably lower depending upon your feeling about Deshaun and Russ. And on the downside of his career. They gotta swing big at QB. I'd consider this if I were a...

I agree. That's why I wouldn't sign any FA WR for significant money because they are all 2/3 types, or have injury/age concerns.

This is the guy I thought they'd end up with all along. Van Pelt was on that Cincinatti staff when Boyd was leading the team in targets. I don't love the fit here though. He needs to be a 2/3

    Non-Patriots Free Agency News 2024

Offset language is automatic. Schefter is just parroting what Parkers agent told him. Unless there's a trade where the Patriots are getting something to eat Parkers salary, they'd just cut him and get whatever salary Philly is paying him credited back on the cap next year.

That dog will hunt; Henry back to Patriots on 3/27M deal

I agree, they probably will. And I would frontload those extensions and restructures for the same reason.

Who starts Week 1 at QB for the Patriots?

It's whoever they take at #3

That dog will hunt; Henry back to Patriots on 3/27M deal

But as I said, they won't do that. They'll still spend it. If they don't get enough good players to spend it on this season, they won't bank it. They'll spend it on lesser players if they don't frontload they guys they got. You think the Krafts wouldn't hear Felger Nation screaming at them...

That dog will hunt; Henry back to Patriots on 3/27M deal

Sure there is. If there aren't enough players out there that you like that'll sign with you this season, you can frontload the guys who do sign with you, rather than spend more money on lesser players. It would leave more cap space in future years to utilize. I think frontloading would be...

That dog will hunt; Henry back to Patriots on 3/27M deal

I thought there was a chance the Patriots frontload their contracts this year and take the cap hits up front, but this Henry contract is structured with the standard tiny cap hit in year one. If this contract is any indicator, it looks like they are indeed going to be burning that cash this...

    Misc. Pats Offseason News

I can't imagine a scenario where the Jets GM/QB would allow the Patriots to outbid him for Davante Adams if he were available.

2024 NFL General Season News and Notes

They have a 3rd rounder this year and a 2nd rounder next year. I think that's in the ballpark for Fields. He wouldn't be one and done for them. They'd pick up that fifth year option if they were trading for him. I can't imagine Payton going into this year with Stidham as his starter, and they...

2024 NFL General Season News and Notes

I think whoever of Atlanta and Minnesota doesn't get Cousins ends up with Russ. I think Denver is going to pop up and trade for Fields.

What do you want Pats to do with #3?

This is where I'm at as well. I'd much rather bet on the bigger guy, with the bigger arm, to play in the tougher weather here. I have zero interest in paying any of the free agent QBs. I don't think any of them are good enough to get through the AFC to the Super Bowl, so I'd much rather gamble...

Official Patriots 2024 Draft Pick Watch Thread (#3)

This is going to be tricky for the Patriots if they like one of Daniels/Maye and not the other. Ryan Poles said today if the Bears decide to take a QB at #1, he'll look to trade Fields before free agency starts. So the Patriots would have to trade for Fields, before even knowing whether the...

Mine is Chase Young. I think there is a decent chance Judon has played his last game as a Patriot, and I'd want to swing big at the upside of Chase Young to fill that spot.

I wouldn't think so. Getting tagged doesn't necessarily mean you're going to play on the one year tag. Could still extend with Patriots, or if you want out could get tagged and traded. I'd guess he'd rather have the big money long term deal over the bigger salary one year deal. I'd imagine...

Interesting. I think if the Patriots let him get to FA he's going to have a huge market.
