    I took her into our wooded park this morning and did 2.5 miles on the trails. She was off leash for most of it and behaved well. Ran around like a maniac but always came running to me if I got out of sight. Came when she was called. Never even had to give her the treats in my pocket.

    So my Garmin Forerunner 110 bit the dust after six years of service, and I've upgraded to one with a heart rate monitor. Google tells me I should be doing the bulk of my running at "Heart Rate Zone 2" Except I can't get below 3.5. Do I really need to run so slowly? It seems counter intuitive.

    Drove down to Hampton Beach NH for a half tomorrow morning. Holed up in a hotel room with a nasty cold and headache. Supposed to be 5 degrees with strong wind gusts sling the shore. I'll see how I feel in the morning but I think I might not run tomorrow.

    "A race like no other" about the New York City Marathon is quite good. And I wasn't a big fan myself but a lot of runners I know loved "Chi Running"
