2024 Playoffs Eastern Conference First Round: (2) New York Knicks vs (7) Philadelphia 76ers

I don't think that @JakeRae was wrong to say Philly is the better team, nor was @the moops wrong to note that Philly was something like 31-8 with Embiid this year. However, with Embiid, there's ALWAYS something. Something always goes wrong. I don't pretend to fully know why, but it seems to be...

    Pritchard Extended

Shower thought, but Pritchard's value probably goes up a decent bit in a league in which - you're allowed to maul guys when they try to shoot over you - 3s become a more valuable form of offense because you can't get as physical with them

2024 Playoffs Eastern Conference First Round: (2) New York Knicks vs (7) Philadelphia 76ers

Regarding the bolded: you're correct, but the league is very, very clearly trying to move things closer to the letter of the rule. This affects replays, but also definitely affects marginal propensity to call something a foul, which has had a clear effect on scoring. It sucks that it's not yet...

Celtics vs Da Culture - Round 1 (FIGHT!)

Bam vs Jaylen riles me up a lot less than a list that has Sabonis sniffing the top 25.

2024 Playoffs Western Conference First Round: (2) Denver Nuggets vs (7) LA Lakers

Seems similar to the Jaylen call against Indy? People can like it or not, but the NBA clearly decided in January that they wanted to allow a lot more contact after the ball is released. They have consistently affirmed that in replay review. They also want to allow a lot more marginal contact on...

2024 Playoffs Eastern Conference First Round: (2) New York Knicks vs (7) Philadelphia 76ers

Winning by 10+ so that crunchtime and officials don't matter is underrated. Wrt "marginal" contact: one big issue is that the NBA called ticky fouls for so long, we're all used to *anything* being a foul. The letter of the law lets defenders do more, and the contrast is jarring, when that law...

2024 Playoffs Western Conference First Round: (2) Denver Nuggets vs (7) LA Lakers

Agree with all this. I don't want to be accused of Celtics-hopium-posting, since Denver is very good (getting bored of giving that disclaimer endlessly), but I think the path to beating them starts on the perimeter. You have to get Jokic running and rotating, and you do that by putting the...

If Nurse were a punt returner, he'd have gotten flagged for an invalid fair catch signal.

2024 Playoffs Western Conference First Round: (2) Denver Nuggets vs (7) LA Lakers

Why are people so down on the Lakers' defense when they gave up 101 tough points? You take that all day, every day. The problem is that their own offense sucks when someone isn't on a random heater. This is the story with Denver in general imo: you have to outscore and outmath them. It's not...

2024 Playoffs Eastern Conference First Round: (2) New York Knicks vs (7) Philadelphia 76ers

Reminds me of when a certain now-Sixers-GM tried to litigate his way to a 2018 WCF win.

2024 Playoffs Western Conference First Round: (2) Denver Nuggets vs (7) LA Lakers

I'm extremely concerned about Denver, but it's more about their defense and overall approach. I think that part of them is underrated, while their offense is somewhat overrated.

Celtics vs Da Culture - Round 1 (FIGHT!)

Bam is a good player who is paid appropriately for what he is, and whose rep is mostly in line with what he is. The Heat just need a LOT more.

2024 Playoffs Eastern Conference First Round: (2) New York Knicks vs (7) Philadelphia 76ers

Dumb "Tatum vs. Brunson" stuff aside, I think Brunson is really good, and I'm pretty surprised at how bad he's been against Philly. Particularly with Hart hot from 3, Philly shouldn't be able to contain Jalen like this.

Honestly pretty shocked by that: it seemed like he enjoyed the media aspect, and it felt like he's more "in the arena" there than he would be losing 43 games in Charlotte.

Celtics vs Da Culture - Round 1 (FIGHT!)

We've played two intense 7-game series against them the past two seasons, and, when asked for examples of their "lot of dirty things", people are like "Bam sets illegal screens" and "they grab us a lot." I have no idea why Martin ducks. I haven't been pushed while running full speed for a loose...

Celtics vs Da Culture - Round 1 (FIGHT!)

I think what Jrue was trying to do was to clear Martin out of space, so that he wouldn't be able to grab a rebound in that area. It looks pretty clear on replay that Jrue gives Martin a ton of extra force: if a guy already has momentum in a direction, and you push, you really add a lot to it...

2024 Playoffs Eastern Conference First Round: (4) Cleveland Cavaliers vs (5) Orlando Magic

Watching the Magic on offense is so brutal, and it gives you appreciation for the C's willingness to just fire away from 3. Orlando keeps generating quality deep looks, but the guys they have out there aren't good enough and confident enough shooters, so they're constantly forced into crappy...
