    Autry's Army - 2023-24 SU Hoops

If they beat Clemson on the road and get a win in the ACC tourney they may have a chance of getting in to the tourney. BUT as other's have pointed out whether they get in or not, I give Autry a lot of credit and the program seems to be headed in the right direction. And that is really all...

Toucher and Hardy: The new 98.5 morning show

Ha, that's great. Wallach seems like a good guy, but he really doesn't add anything. He mainly just regurgitates obvious stuff or opinions that are already out there. He does not come across as a dumb guy but he doesn't put a creative spin/angle on things either. He is good at sucking up...

    Any swim parent on deck?

My daughter got a D1 scholarship for swimming! She is entering her senior year of high school and committed last October. She's the only kid I know that turned down two Ivy offers for another non-Ivy school but she had a bad experience on the official visit at one, and the other didn't feel...

    30 for 30

Apparently the 30-30 Walton documentary was originally going to be on the 77 Blazers. But there is so much material on Walton they extended it and made it about him and the Blazers. After watching it, I can now see how that played out and why such a heavy focus on the 77 Blazers. Random side...

The Athletic sells to the New York Times

A few months back I went to cancel my reoccurring subscription to The Athletic; set to autorenewal in August, so was cancelling the autorenewal. When I did they offered me a dirt cheap renewal rate and also threw in the NY TIMES games as part of it. I now do - or try to - the NY TIMES...

Doc Rivers fired as 76ers coach

I liked him as a commentator, provided insightful analysis etc. But the pitch/tone of his natural voice, made him difficult to hear on broadcasts. But that was a number of years back, maybe they can adjust his voice better now in the mix etc.

Thoughts about media types who don't have their own threads

And ESPN announcing they're starting the layoffs of 7,000 and head of NBC Universal getting canned. Quite the media happenings day.

So long, Framingham Lou (and other WEEI discussions)

Agree. Whether you liked them or not Dennis and Callahan brought in big ratings, at the end not as big but still enough where good money was rolling. When money is flowing people will turn a blind eye. The current morning show on WEEI does not bring in big ratings, currently 11th combined...

    Boeheim retiring

Syracuse alumni here, I went to the 96 Final Four and championship game (ironically enough last final four not in a dome/football stadium). I wish Boeheim would have gone out more gracefully, however it's quintessential Boeheim. He's thin skinned to a fault, that's what made him great and...

The Athletic sells to the New York Times

I noticed I went to cancel they offered me a deal that included the NY Times games pack too. I've been doing the NY Times crosswords each day more then I've been reading The Athletic.

    Bill Russell:Legend

The only reason I know that, I remember watching on YouTube the preseason game w/the Sixers where Billy Cunningham's jacket got ripped in the fight....and Red comes storming out of the stands to berate the refs and Cunningham. Ha. I looked up where his seat was after that.
