    Alex Cora's first season

Oh yeah. I'd be surprised if it wasn't discussed on this site before, but I think he did a decent job managing a team with not much talent his three years with the Senators.

    Alex Cora's first season

I might be missing something, but to me, I find a manager's job to be more in handling pitchers than hitters. I don't think any manager would have the effect on the hitting as much as JDM and Mitchy Two Bags have had this year. Players and clubhouse? Who knows? I could see Cora better in there...

    We're halfway through the season

Didn't mean to make imply a projection- merely comparing years at this stage of the season. I cut my teeth on 1978, I don't want to be a Cassandra.

As of the end of the game today, July 3, the 2018 Red Sox are a game behind the 1978 team and 5 games behind the 1946 club.

The Swing and the Mythology of Ted Williams: PBS doc to air 7/23/18

I don't watch much TV, but when I do, I prefer the Red Sox! Thanks for the tip!

    Red Sox Defensive Gifs

Devers did a good job on the receiving end- the second angle shows the runner having to go almost diagonally to the home plate side of the bag to try to avoid Devers. The throw beat the runner by so much Devers had a chance to compensate for it being a bit off line, and he handled it well.

Pretty sure the deal with crack is since it's not a salt, more volatile, higher vapor pressure, crack pipe...addict. edit: higher vapor pressure for the free base than the salt

Mustard gas, thermite, napalm...and I think I could make nerve gas, but I'm not sure.

    Hanley Ramirez Rumors

I'm really thinking it's becoming more widespread because it's easier to make than heroin and it's more powerful, so less is needed. Really a fucking nightmare for drug abuse.

When I saw the structure of fentanyl, I was like "damn, I could make that".

I think it's 1 g of crack is soluble in 600 mL of water, cocaine, 1g in 0.4 g water. Free the base!

    Hanley Ramirez Rumors

Fentanyl. 435 grams? Holy shit. You could OD a city with that. That stuff is like 40+ x more powerful than heroin. You would think it being so much more potent would mean you'd have to traffic less of it, but I suppose, whatever fits in your statue of the Virgin Mary...

Is Mike Trout the Best Player Ever?

Ruth's 1923 season was comical. Highest batting average by a Yankee. To me, Ruth's accomplishments are diminished by him doing them in the 1920s/1930s- no sliders, relief pitching was a joke, bunch of white boys, but in the same breath, he was a damn good pitcher, too. He is absolutely unique.

Didn't Tom Burgmeier win a GG when he was with the sox? Looking it up...nope.
