    Potential Trade Deadline Targets

I wonder if the Sox would be willing to send a better prospect or two then would usually be required for one of those relievers in exchange for the other team taking on Nunez and the remaining balance on his contract. That will allow them to stay under the final luxury tax threshold.

Red Sox Payroll and Luxury Tax 2018

I wonder if they will try to find a taker for Nunez. He seems kind of redundant with the reemergence of Holt, Swihart as a break glass in emergency type and Lin in Pawtucket.

    2018 MLB Draft Uber-Thread

I have two questions I am wondering if the more knowledgeable folks on this site can answer. The first is that I get the sense this draft is a weak draft. Is that accurate? Secondly how have the Sox done so far?

    Hanley DFA'd (5/25 Update)

This might be a topic for a new thread, but I think avoiding Machado and Harper and saving their bullets for Sale and Betts is the right way to go. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they get new contracts worked out with the two of them next off season that kicks in 2020.

    Hanley DFA'd (5/25 Update)

Holy cow dude calm down. It can just as easily be a rabid fan base that expects all star performances from all their players and says mean things about them regardless of their skin color when they don't perform. I couldn't tell you which is which since it was two lines of text but that seems...

    Hanley DFA'd (5/25 Update)

That is kind of what I am wondering

    Hanley DFA'd (5/25 Update)

This is shocking. But I am also surprised that Cora never moved him down in the order during his "slump". Kind of makes you wonder if DD and Cora are on the same page in regards to Hanley.

    Hanley DFA'd (5/25 Update)

Hanley is batting in the two hole today. This has to be stubbornness on Cora's part. It certainly is boneheaded. That being said this is the first move Cora has done that I think is indefensible.

    Hanley DFA'd (5/25 Update)

So it would seem that the logical thing to do at this point would be to put in Moreland. Even though he is due for regressions, it won't be hard for his numbers to be better then Hanely.

    Hanley DFA'd (5/25 Update)

I am not sure I understand your argument then. Wouldn't Bogey or Moreland in the three hole extend the lineup, thus making it more productive?

    Hanley DFA'd (5/25 Update)

I assume when you refer to people wanting to drop Hanley, you are referring to people who want to DFA him? I will agree that is extreme. I think allowing Moreland to play first for a couple days in a row and allowing Hanley to work on his swing is more realistic. Whatever happens though Hanley...

    Hanley DFA'd (5/25 Update)

What I find interesting is that JBJ plays like crap and he gets his playing time reduced in order to work on his swing. Hanley plays likes crap and he continues to bat in the three hole. I don't understand the discrepancy in dealing with players. The only thing I can think of is that Cora...

    Hanley DFA'd (5/25 Update)

Cora seems like a pretty smart dude and he seems to like utilizing statistics in how he puts together his lineup. That being said I honestly can't understand why Hanley is still in the three hole. Is their a justification for this that I am not realizing? Wouldn't the offense be more productive...

So the farm system has had a disastrous start

Has anyone taken a look at individual scouts over the years and seen if any tend to hit more then most?

    BOS bullpen 2018

I am sorry I might have missed it, but where did Smith say he has been used a lot? Also how can being used a lot during the first month of the season lead to a shoulder injury of this magnitude?

Hector Velazquez. Well, well, well.... What do we have here???

Do you have some information that we don't have in regards to Pom's elbow? Are you his personal physician? I think it is a little premature to assume he is headed for tommy john.

    BOS bullpen 2018

I think you guys are underestimating Hembree. He is not irreplaceable, but he is not the type of guy you just discard in the hopes that either Thornburg, Workman or Maddox can fill his shoes.

    BOS bullpen 2018

Hembree is not going anywhere until Thornburg proves he is fully recovered from his injury. Take a look at Matt Harvey and how he is doing if you want to know how difficult it is to come back from that surgery. Getting rid of Hembree because Thornburg looks good in the minors would be really...
