Get the win and give the kids something to learn from I guess.

Tuukka got the stick tonight. No chance on those goals.

If David Krejci plays at that level for long stretches of the season, this team could rack up some points.

DeBrusk was impressive with puck and without it.

No one here cussed out the defensemen tonight. Solid game.

And all this without Bergeron, Krug, and Backes.

Between here and everywhere.
How drunk is TSC right now?
I had to drive myself and the wife home. I drank early and calmed down by the end of the night.

I'm so excited about where this team is going. This was fun hockey to watch. There's going to be some bad games this year, the kids will go through their growing pains, but man. Give these kids 2-3 years to grow, and develop, and learn from each other and they're going to be special.

DeBrusk skating with Bjork and Krejci at the end was fun to watch. DeBrusk was more impressive in person, and Bjork was very good. He's so smart with the puck.

Great start. They are going to be very good when healthy, especially if Spooner can play quasi-aggressively. He did well tonight.

I enjoyed that a lot more than I have in a while.

I feel like this might be what it's like right before your team is ready to make the leap back into being a legitimate contender. No idea if it will happen this year, but these kids could be really, really good by the end of the season. And from what I have read and heard from you guys, there are more than a few guys playing in Providence who might be ready to contribute very soon, too (JFK as a 3rd or 4th line center by the end of the year, maybe?).

Holy smokes, I am positively giddy about this team right now.

Between here and everywhere.
The difference between the team that is starting this year and and the one that started last year is striking.
Last year for reference.

Marchand-Backes-Pastrnak
Spooner-Krejci-Heinen
Beleskey-Czarnik-Hayes
Moore-Nash-Acciari

Chara-Carlo
Krug-O'Gara
Liles-C. Miller

The thing that makes me most happy about last night - we did it without our best forward, potentially our best D, and another top F against one of the best teams in the West.

Cassidy's system vs Julien's is probably the most different thing from last opener to this year's. The interviews with the coaches throughout the game kept hammering away at the same points: "we want our forwards moving forward" "utilize speed to keep our opponents off-balance" etc.

Yes, special teams also looks to be improved. The PP showed good movement and despite the two PP goals against in 3 and 2 man down situations, the PK also looked really good. If they get the consistent 5v5 scoring they didn't last year, this team could be really tough.

Here's to hoping!

I've read some other things that really make me feel like Cassidy is a perfect coach for a team as young as this one. Stuff to the effect of, "we want the kids to be aggressive, we expect mistakes but we want them to learn from those mistakes instead of being scared off by them", as opposed to the (probably sometimes unwarranted, but I don't think entirely so) feeling under Claude where young guys who make mistakes (*cough* Pasta *cough*) found themselves in the doghouse for periods or entire games.

I love Claude for making the team relevant again, and of course for 2011 and 2013, but it feels like Sweeney et al may have picked the perfect time to move on from him.

Butch is fun with the media

I know he was joking but I wonder if the glass at Warrior is the same as at the Garden? I would hope so, seems like a non-brainer.

Morning after and still really happy with what I saw last night. They didn't seemed to get caught in the d to d to d to d to turnover thing that seemed to happen way too often last year. Nice and quick and aggressive on the breakouts. And definitely seem to want to try to play a more aggressive style. There will be plenty of bumps and bruises but it's going to be fun to watch.

Yeah, I just realized they aren't playing today (even though I know I've read Bergy and Krug's statuses for "Monday") and it seriously ruined my Sunday.
