Who other than Clowney do you see as a better fit for a 4-3? It's not like they just switched; they ran a 3-4 for years under Wade Phillips.

 
I think his point is that the current personnel is better suited to a 4-3 and that forcing a square peg (Clowney) into a round hole (OLB) is a less than optimal use of the current roster's skill set.

I get that, it's just I think the notion that "the current personnel is better suited to a 4-3" ought to have more than one example.

Short version:

• Wilfork is washed up
• The linebackers are slow and can't cover (both Schofield and I wrote about this), especially in the nickel
• The secondary plays with too much cushion, in part because they need one safety in the box because the run D is bad, and they don't have safeties or cornerbacks good enough to play this way
• The pass rush is bad, with Watt the only good rusher, and they compound this by not rushing Mercilus or Clowney more and not using any creativity

Damn, that's a lot of problems.
