I waited until August last year, but what the hell. The Red Sox are currently in position for a top 5 pick in what is considered a strong draft class. Though there is no Harper/Strasburg no-doubt #1, there is an opportunity to land an exciting player.

SI's projected top 5 are :

1. A.J. Puk, LHP, Florida
2. Riley Pint, RHP, St. Thomas Aquinas High
3. Austin Bergner, RHP, Windermere Prep
4. Robert Tyler, RHP, Georgia
5. Alec Hanson, RHP, Oklahoma

Position players considered top 10 talent include outfielders Blake Rutherford (HS) and Nick Banks (A&M) , 3B Bobby Dalbec (Arizona) and catcher Chris Okey (Clemson) .

This will likely change dramatically as evidenced by the expected top 10 from last August.

When was the last time the Red Sox drafted and developed a front line Ace? I'd rather they go in a diffrent direction.
