No rain in the forecast plus they are on Center Court where they could close the roof but man is Roger in trouble. Cilic looks locked in right now.
And then Cilic plays a shit game to consolidate the break, and Roger can't take advantage, but dumping a second serve to his forehand right into the middle of the net on break point

And Roger has a chance to break back and save the set, and hits 3 backhands like a High Schooler, including dumping just the easiest of plays at the net right into the nest. Just all kinds of sad to watch

UGH, the backhand is just all kinds of ugly today

We have a momentum change. After the comeback from 0-40, Rogers gets a break on a double fault from Cilic

There is hope in FedNation as Roger takes the 3rd set

ESPN has the free live stream, but the score ticker above is ahead of the match. It kind of ruins the suspense of watching.

Federer somehow survives the 4th set tiebreaker.

Looking at the stats and Roger is still at 60% first serves, but man it feels more like about 40%, so many key points have been second serve

Roger needs an early break. Every service game for him right now is just a war.

Roger pulls it out. Unbelievable.

Raonic in the next round will be tough, but Cilic is basically the same player, so that is an advantage.

The old man has still got it. What incredible mental fortitude and focus. He gets Raonic in the semis.

Murray-Tsonga to follow on centre court, winner to likely play Berdych.

Here
Murray-Federer would be an incredible atmosphere if it came to that. That was a pretty remarkable comeback for Roger, I hope he saved some energy for the semis.

He may not need as much of it as you think. BigMike says Raonic and Cilic are the same player, but when Cilic is on (see: 2014 US Open), he has a much better forehand and more spin on all his groundstrokes, and his serve may not be as fast as Raonic's but it's just as consistent. If it takes 5 sets for Federer to beat Raonic, I'd be surprised.

Berdych, meanwhile, will be a real tough matchup for Murray. Murray can play against big servers who can't move well, like Tsonga, all day long. They're on-serve in the first but unless he melts down, I think it'll be straight sets for him. But Berdych is a defensive counterpuncher just like Murray, with nearly Murray's speed (if not his net play), and on a good day his forehand and serve are better than Murray's. Andeh can't exploit Berdych's weaknesses the way, say, Federer can.

Well, I am not sure I have ever seen Tsonga described as a guy who can't move well. That first set was unbelievable and the tiebreaker was insane, and really Tsonga should have won. But wow, really disappointed that he basically quit after that tiebreak

Here
He appears to have unquit, though I agree he looked defeated in the second set. Almost despondent.

Tsonga moves well for a big guy, but his first step is way slower than elite court-coverers like Murray and Djokovic or even Nishikori. I mean, Tsonga's not Isner, he has way more variety to his game when healthy, but you can still work him out of position from the baseline, he's slow getting to many drop shots, and his endurance is suspect (as we're seeing here, and he was lucky that his 5-setter was vs Isner). He makes up for it with good footwork and great hands, but I would not say footspeed is one of his plus tools, by the standards of the top-50 anyway.

It is amazing at times how these guys do that, basically get upset, tank a set and then somehow recover.

Tsonga gets broken in the 4th and then Tsonga is able to break back

Meeting Place, Canada
Murray and Tsonga trade breaks, 4-3 Murray. On deuce, Tsonga hit an amazing cross-court slice backhand, just as it passed the net, the ball went straight down like it was shot by a bullet

Tsonga breaks and now serving up 5-4 for the 4th set. Another great match on centre court today.

Murray Bakery now open, dishing out breadsticks with a hint of bagels.

And meanwhile, the Bryan Brothers lose in 3 straight sets in their quarterfinal. Their quest for the all-time record in doubles majors still remains unfilled, as they're tied with Todd Woodbridge at 16.

On tap today are ladies semis:

Appetizer, 8am: Serena vs Elena Vesnina
Entree, ~10am: Venus vs Kerber - will be an absolute war
Dessert, ~12pm: Serena/Venus vs Vesnina/Makarova, doubles QFs

So Vesnina might lose (or beat) Serena twice in one day. Never seen that before, that I can easily recall anyway.

Whelp, 2 games in and this looks like a snoozer unless Serena just falls asleep at the wheel (which she has been known to do I suppose....)

Good god, can someone stick a sock in Chris Everett's mouth.

We are in the third game of the match here and after a 3 minute pre match discussion about whether Venus may be fatigued. We get another long discussion about how hard Venus has had to work and how Chrissy is worried about fatigue in game 3.

Five streak breaks of serve to start the match. Kerber is such a joy to watch play, just the energizer bunny out there

Kerber is likely to wear Venus out an win this one. I can't see Venus having enough energy against as strong as a player as Kerber.

Kerber up 5-2 on serve now looking to close out the 1st set. This is looking like a quick 2 set match. Venus has very little in the tank left.

I hate the oh she's fatigued talk. This is the way Venus has been playing all tournament, she has had a fairly easy draw to get here, and has struggled with every opponent. Today she is playing the best opponent she has seen all tourney and the same level of play ins't good enough.

Arguably she is playing the best tennis she has the whole tournament in this second set.

Kerber with a chance now to serve out the match. She has been ok, but not nearly at her best today, and will need to be much better tomorrow assuming she survives this

Kerber with a strong service game to finish the match and wins 6-4, 6-4
