with Romo likely being cut form dallas i think Romo and Jones have a secret agreement that romo will not sign in NFC East or Houston

i think Denver is the fav for romo unless he want 14 mil plus a year

Agree. Next season's starting QB isn't on the current roster. Romo has to be Elway's first choice.

If Romo is cut, Denver won't be his richest offer, but will present his best chance to win.

If the Cowboys decide to trade Romo, the Broncos would be one of the few teams willing to give up value to assume Romo's current contract (probably with an eye toward restructuring). No idea if there's any solution that would be practicable for both teams. (If Romo's contract is unworkable without a restructure, he'll probably refuse to cooperate and make the Cowboys cut him.)

Romo to the Broncos makes some sense. Neither their defense nor their non-QB offense promise to be as good as they were two years ago, but 2017 Romo should be better than either QB they had in 2015. In the NFL there is always a "if things come together" aspect to seasons, but with Romo at the helm things could come together for them; without Romo, not so much. I think I read somewhere that Romo is looking to play 1-3 (?) more years, so they could still groom Lynch and/or buy time to find another replacement.

Also, after seeing this thread the other day I started to look at the rest of their division to see where Denver might be expected to stand in the AFCW in 2017, but I got sidetracked. Going off memory from the (very) little research I did:

It seems that KC has only two important FAs - Berry and Poe - and Smith isn't that old and hasn't shown signs of nearing the cliff yet. It's an Andy Reid team, so they're likely to be good and unlikely to be great. Conclusion: KC should present two tough division games for Denver, but it's highly unclear which will be the better team.

Oakland seems to have a few more FA issues to deal with, but not a ton. Is Carr the real deal? Will he be healthy? I don't know. I also don't know about any of the teams in the division's cap situation. Probably two tough games against Oakland as well, though I think the 2017 Raiders are tough to project.

I didn't even start to look at SD, but they seem to be a team in free fall.

Anyone have a more informed assessment they want to share?

Philly has a young QB who they think will be the franchise. NY has a two-time SB winner who is the same age as Romo and has the benefit of being healthy. Washington is a hot mess of a franchise.

Point being that if Romo is cut, Jones doesn't need an agreement to keep him out of the NFC East.

Raiders were 9-2 in one-score games. They're a good candidate to regress, even if Carr is 100% physically by Week 1.

Chargers were 1-8 in games decided by 7 points or less. They're probably the worst team in that division on paper, but they're better than their record.

i am prerry smart on the AFC West

Oakland is the fav best qb in the div very good on off but other than mack have a average Def that teams like NE could score 50 on

denver like i said could go 5-11 or 11-5 its up to 1 QB 2 Sech 3 V Joseph

KC if they lose Barry its over for them they will always be around 8-8 9-7 but barry is a impact player KC is right at the Cap unlees they keep both berry and poe and have a great draft i cant see more than 10 wins max

LA can be good but no depth and rivens is ageing all LA can do is help determie how the west will be won

1 OAK 11-5
2 DEN 10-6
3 KC 9-7
4 LA 7-9

What do you think about the runningback situation? CJ Anderson seemed like a stud early on in the season and then got injured. Is Booker going to be the lead back or will Denver rotate the RBs like Atlanta does with Freeman/Coleman?

its going to be hard to tell booker shows kind of a weakness in pass pro was great in the oakland game but other than that shows timedness running through the hole u cant count on CJ for 16 weeks with his running syile bibbs is a 1-cut back thompson is too slow

denver will need 2 rb's

My assumption is they'll keep both backs and the running game will be a strength.

denver decline the opiton on okugng today saveing denver 10.5 in cap space
Just googled it and it seems he negotiated his own contract (poorly). I seem to remember something about that. It also seems the OT FA market might be a bit crowded this year. Oops?

Free agents that Ted Thompson wants to keep don't leave Green Bay. I am pretty sure they let Josh Sitton go with signing Lang in mind.

well Watson is q but Elway misplayed the OL haul
adding peko and kerr are just bodies at this point

to Me unless Oakland misses on Petetson or charles u have to cond Oakland the AFC West Fav

but here is 1 seno that shouild worry pats fans lets say NE is 16-0 or 15-1 next season and they have to play a 9-7 Denver team in foxboro even if NE bets Denver the phyical ness of denver def couild mean a Oakland couild beat them the next week

So I totally missed the KC/Eric Berry contract signing. Looks like Poe will be gone, but it seems he was losing playing time last year. It looks like pretty much the same KC team coming back from last year.

What do you think, j-man? I mean, they're the Chiefs - they won't be at the top of AFC contenders, but they'll be good enough to be a headache for the rest of the AFCW, right? Which is bad for Denver.

KC will be good but not great B Logan will be their only new Add vet FA Alex Smith has peaked much tougher sch for them shouild had lost @ den @ car @ atl and SD last season as long as reid is the coach they will be around 9-7 10-6

they swept OAK and Den last year highly unlikely that happen again i have kc at 9-7 right now and denver at 10-6 and Oak at 11-5 if they get AP or charles

For those of us without season tickets, we can pick up game tickets from our partners at Stub Hub. So far, they may only have preseason tickets available.

Strength of schedule
The Broncos will start the year with the toughest strength of schedule in the entire NFL. That can and will change, of course, and the one bright spot of this reality is that Denver will face most of those 2016 playoff teams in the Mile High city.

If they are going to have a tough slate of games, it is best that they have them at home rather than on the road.

Prime time heaven
A very favorable prime time slot of games for the Broncos is something they absolutely must take advantage of. Hosting the Chargers, Giants and Patriots in Mile High under the bright lights of prime time is exactly what you’d hope for as a fan.

However, they’ll also travel to Arrowhead Stadium for a Monday Night showdown with the Chiefs, along with a late season Thursday Night game against the Colts.

Brutal road stretches
The worst part of the schedule are two brutal stretches of road games. Fortunately, the first one has a Bye Week broken up, but both feature four road games in five games.

On the flip side, the Broncos could get out to a fast start with four home games out of the first five to start the season.

my 02 on denver

and feel free to make fun if i miss this pick

denver is a 9-7 type of team unlees they can get off to a 5-1 start 4 home games in the first 6 weeks means they have to staft fast

QB is a weak spot simeian wouild be a great QB 20 years ago but his bad 2nd haif esp in dec has me worryed

RB on paper seems good here but Anderson can he play 16 weeks what about Charles knees are the rookies just KR/PR guys

WR/TE i like their WR not only DT and sanders but taylor and fowler can play as well
TE the sooner butt starts the better as dereby is the only TE better than ave

OL T are a worry Bolies couild be a bust Watson played poor during the hou game steveson is ave
G Leary will help the run game but can he pass block
C if pardellis starts slow because of hip sur this will be a long year

DEF
DE its Wolfe and 2 guys maybe peko and kerr can impovre the run def if so denver def will be top 3
LB only soft spot is MLB can marshall rebound and can davis be more than a ST
CB/S wow 3 solid CB plus the best Saf group in the NFL

b line
the best hope for den is start 5-1 6-0 get a WC no inj esp on DL And OT and see if denver can win a few road playoff games that said if denver sta 2-4 1-5 5 or 6 wins is possable

Here's hoping J-man is right! Although I think you are vastly over estimating the dolphins.

I can't really hate on the Broncos this year. Good luck!

Welp, looks like the Broncos are trying to find creative ways to boot people from their season ticket packages, presumably to resell them at a higher price.

People with legitimate medical or life issues are getting their tickets revoked. Geez.

I wonder how many other NFL teams have similar policies?

The absolutely insane thing about this is that Broncos knew this family hadn't attended a single game that year only because they used the team's own ticket exchange to resell their tickets, something they (and most professional sports teams) have created in order to recapture some of the resale market. I'll bet there's an explicit appeal to "team loyalty" to use their exchange as well--clever move, guys!

Sorry j-man, but I'm thinking that this is going to be the least pleasant football season in Denver in a very long time. New head coach, new coordinators, talent drain in FA the last few seasons, and a crappy QB situation. Siemian is a poor man's Alex Smith; he might be OK but he's certainly nothing more than that. His ceiling is "first round playoff loser". I'm guessing his floor is "4-12, but it wasn't all his fault". Meanwhile, the Shitty Magician Paxton Lynch might not be able to read an NFL defense or take a snap from center. If he can't beat out the thoroughly average Siemian, that's a very bad sign.

Good thing Elway signed an extension; he's got a lot of work and time to do before the Broncos can hope to compete with Oakland.

the worst worst case ser is 5-11 but denver has a top 5 def that will keep it in 12 13 games simeian for all his fauis and he has a lot threw 18 TD'S last year

the sch in no order

LA we will spit or sweep them
KC Spit
Oak spit at best
NYJ W
Mia L
Buff Toss up
Ne L or toss up
Ciny W
Indy toss up
Wash toss up
philly toss up
Dal L if zeke w if not
Nyg W

den celling is a div round loss at ne i been saying siemian is alex smith on mile high report and that lynch has bad footwork and denver needs to make a play for brees after 17

but the afc west is overrated oakland will need major def upgrades to beat u
Kc is 9-7 at best

throuhts about den 1st preseason game

denver has no QB lynch looks like a bust simeian at best is 18-22 in the QB order

RB was much betther hendon looks good rindley is a ideal backup
WR Laitner looks diff the 3rd round WR looks like a good 4th WR
TE not great but hopefully jake butt can play in dec
LT Boiles will be a top 10 LT
LG Leary looks very good
C hopeleffy pardells is back for week 1
RG is a mess but i ex baree to win that job
RT awful watson is bad denver just needs to btie the buttit and sign a power LT here or use a 2018 1st here

DEF

watched last night game aga sf

QB its Simeian or bust as lynch plays too safe Simeian is a alex smith type with the way denver first team def is denver can be number 2 in the afc and top 5 overall if last night simeian shows up

RB CJ is the starter but D Herdarson 6th round couild be a 1'000 yd back in a 1-cut system ridey ex-pat is batter with J Thomson for 3rd sting J Charles looks cut at this point

WR denver is fine here at 1 and 2 but 3 and below are lacking my guessies are B Folwer at 3 Carlos hendron at 4 I Mczenie at 5 and H Sharp or Latier at 6

TE not good here i like green as a blocker but not very good at catching

T bolies reminds me or Voller your ex RT miscast as a LT but wouild be a top 3 RT
G/C gets suffhed on 3rd and short way too much a work in progress at best

Def oh my god that Def the first team def can do it all but up the middle pass rush and inside pass rush peko is betther than williams last year B Marshall looks fast it seems to me we are running more cover 2 at times

weakness are when the 2nd 3nd team def gets in next game aga green bay shouild tell a lot
