I can host anyone at bass rocks in Gloucester. With advanced notice I can also travel. Getting married in August means this is the best spring for me to travel.

Also I am gone to Gillette all day tomorrow so if it gets to me I will do my best to pick, but I will be pretty preoccupied.

Have any of you played Pebble Beach?

Now that I live in SF, I really want to try and get out there.
When I was the area I passed on PB and played many of the other great courses in the area without the $500+ price tag. There are really some phenomenal courses in that area. Spyglass, bayonet, and pacific grove were all great.

And thanks for the well wishes.

You need to play it at least once in your life. The price is insane, but fuck it.

No problem. Thanks for the names of the other courses.

I actually have the same problem, mainly because all my friends have married and had kids and have little free time and disposable income. They all want to go but can't. Ive stayed single and childless (hooray!) so I'm ready to go at a drop of a hat.

I also have access to a free house on Pinehurst and a member account if we ever want to do that too. But that one is through the girlfriends family so we have to behave.

I think we need to get together this summer. I may be getting a ring soon but no kids, flexible work schedule and enough disposable income that I need to do some fun stuff before the family comes.

I just got married a little over two years ago, but still no kids.

Would definitely love a golf trip.

Jesus, you're all a bunch of youngsters.

My youngest goes off to college next fall, so I'm free to travel anywhere after that. But I'm pretty flexible if we're serious about a trip to Bandon or other places.

I'm not a great golfer (6 or 7 handicap) but I got hot last summer and won the senior championship at my club last year.

You fucking kids ....

I'm a 16 handicap right now so take your "I'm not a great golfer" talk right outta here.

I am be the best 30 handicap ever.

I used to golf all the time (twice a week at least) and was better than a bogey golfer.

Then I met my wife and couldn't golf as much.

I was the type of golfer that would be even on the front nine and drop a 49 on the back.

Gotta love golf.

Ha!

The main points of that little aside are:

1. Unlike you youngsters, I am old enough to play in senior events.
2. If/when we meet on a course, I'm a decent golfer but not great.

I've played with a few members here, but no one in our group. But assuming that my back holds up, I'm always up for a game.

My recollection is that we have some really good golfers here. (Like scratch golfers.) But I could be wrong about that.

FL4WL3SS is a low handicapper, but he'll always have to remember when I beat him straight up on his home course (my second greatest round of my life).

Here is my humble brag. Talking about greatest rounds of my life.

Shot an 81 at ballybunion. Didn't lose a ball until the 17th hole. Doubled that hole and missed an 8 footer for birdie on 18. I am a mental basket case when it comes to breaking 80.

Same here about the 80 thing. Best round of my life was an 83. I have been even par for 9 holes.

My biggest issue is that I am prone to the big number.

I have broken 40 on a 9 several times, but have never put it all together for 18.

Now that I don't really golf that often, I have fun just breaking 100. I still have the shots in the bag, just not enough consistency.

Sorry for the time, but I am agonizing over this pick.

I truly cannot believe that I'm going to do this, but it's a sixth rounder and I think it's worth the risk at this point. But god, the self-loathing (and potential for well-deserved mockery) is intense.

84 at Lake Bluff (playing with my girlfriends dad and grandfather for the first time on their home course...no pressure) and 86 at FL4WL3SS' course.

I have a terrible short game so I often hit the ball well but can't score appropriately.
