I'm not following you or the math; first you said 450M, then 4.5B.

FWIW, Forbes valued RM at 3.58B in 2017. PSG was at 841M on the same list. And RM posted 307M in 15-16 CL earnings.

So, maybe 450M is a little high, but its in the ballpark.
He's saying that to improve their chances by 10% at a cost of 450 million, it would have be worth 4.5 billion to win the CL twice. If Neymar increased their chances of winning the CL twice by 50%, then their break-even value of winning the CL twice would be 900 million.

I watched the Monaco v Toulouse game this evening (first game of the Ligue 1 season), and early in the second half Mbappe went down under a hard challenge in the Toulouse area and seemed to mess his knee up. He tried to play on for a while but had to hobble off...if he tore ligaments or something similar, that's quite a big shift in what's left of the transfer window.

Apparently La Liga didn't send the transfer certificate (wtf is that?) to PSG, so Neymar can't play today.

Leander Dondencker wants to leave Anderlecht. He's a young holding midfielder who plays a mature game for his age. Whoever buys him will be very happy in the long run.

Emre Mor rumored to join Inter.

German link, but it´s credible (kicker). It says that he will be loaned for a year (2mil.€). If he plays a (small) No. of matches, they have to buy him for 15mil.€. This is basically the same transfer structure as Merino to Newcastle, but different numbers, ofc.
He joined Dortmund for 9.5mil.€ a year ago, is 20yo and played only 2 handful of games, one goal and no match for 90minutes. Insanely talented on the ball, but too selfish, so far, that´s why they sell him.

That has to put a NOT FOR SALE sign on Dembele-to-Barca. OTOH, there´s Götze, Reus, Schürrle, Pulisic, Aubameyang, so you never know...

Coutinho to Barca gathering steam. Visit from FCB delegation to the midlands, purportedly.

edit: Being discussed in the Liverpool thread, with reported agreed-to terms linked to by Bosoxen.

So I was thinking last night, why is it that Barcelona and Real Madrid never seem to both target the same player? Seriously, when was the last time you heard a report that says a player was wanted by both? It's usually one or the other. For example, earlier in the summer there were lots of reports of Real wanting Mbappe, but not a single report that Barcelona were interested. You would think given that they are fierce rivals that they would be competing with each other for all the top level talent, but they seem to never target the same player.

Melissa Reddy says "no sale". She's pretty reliable on LFC news.

ESPNFC sucks at reporting breaking deals. They're usually just an aggregator of other, shittier, sources. Hardly better than 90min.com, IMO.

Barca is working the Dembele and Coutinho transfers simultaneously to either get both players, or help their negotiating positions on both fronts. Similar reports are coming out of Dortmund. Still holding out hope they turn south to Turin and grab Dybala!

James Pearce in an Empire of the Kop Podcast:

I don’t think I’ve ever known such contrasting reports (Catalan media vs people in Liverpool). The people at Liverpool are adamant there are no talks now. No change in position. There have been no talks between #LFC and Barca since the first bid in Hong Kong which was rejected. I just don’t see a position that LFC can justify selling Coutinho this window. Barca’s confidence stems from having 200m to burn. To sell Coutinho now would massively undermine Klopp. You couldn’t adequately replace Coutinho, it would undermine Klopp and be a hammer blow before the start of the season. My only worry with Coutinho is if he’s got Barca in his ear telling him “This is your one and only chance.” I don’t think that would be the case.

Per Paul Joyce, a second bid has been made of £90.3m / €100m

And per Chris Bascombe, the bid has been rejected

There´s more and more smoke around Dembele every hour:
He wasn´t at today´s training. They tried to reach out to him, nobody knows where he´s at. That´s what coach Bosz said at the press conference afterwards. "I hope nothing bad happened to him."

Edit:
And now, he´s back in Dortmund and suspended for this weekends DFB cup match vs. some lower league team.
Dortmund also said today (before suspending him) that some Barca guys were there today and sent in a bid for Dembele, which they refused, because "it was too low (considering his standing and the current market situation)".

Marca is reporting Mbappe to PSG, and that PSG is also in Madrid trying to negotiate for Atletico's keeper, Oblak, who has a 100M buy-out clause.

I doubt either happens, but it's different wild to consider how much money PSG may be willing to spend.

FSG release a statement saying Coutinho will not be sold this window for any offer:

http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/271620-fsg-statement-on-philippe-coutinho

Sky Sources / SkyBet report that he's handed in a transfer request:

The two most reliable non-Paul Joyce sources for Liverpool (Reddy and Pearce) refute this, maintaining the club have yet to receive a transfer request.

Also, Coutinho is out against Watford tomorrow with a back issue.

Is it August 31 yet?

Well shit

Pearce confirms

Wonder if it's a verbal ask rather than formal transfer request, though I assume it's the latter. Got to imagine Liverpool dig in their heels until August 31 given this AM's press release. Pretty awful timing with Lallana out for 3 months.

If this is going to get ugly regardless, best to just gather as much egg on the face now and have some time to react before the window closes. The side can't reasonably improve on last year as currently constructed.

No, but if the EPL does alter the date the other leagues will follow. No one wants the current situation of unsettled rosters (and players) with the season starting. Dortmund and Barcelona would both, based on recent events, seem to be supporters of a pre-season deadline; Bayern would probably be OK with a five-day window in early July.

I think this is gonna be a real thing and a good one.

Southampton certainly taking the Liverpool / Coutinho approach (or vice-versa) to Van Dijk - public statement by Krueger:

#SaintsFC chairman Krueger is adamant that Van Dijk is "not for sale in this window" as keeping him is "the statement we need to make"
Krueger: "Virgil is not for sale in this window & it's not personal. It's not about him, it's about an overall much, much bigger picture"
Krueger: "It's the principle, path & statement we need to make to get to a new space as a club. We're adamant about carrying this through"

Matuidi is in Turin for his Juventus medical. This seems like a vestigial response to the Pogba sale last year (Juventus wanted him then). I don't see a dearth of talent or depth in midfield, so I'm not sure what this signals. If anything, Juventus are still reeling somewhat from Bonucci's departure and could use some shoring up defensively.

Oliver Burke(20) from Leipzig to WBA.
Should receive a little bit more money than they paid (15mil.€) last season to Nottingham.

Leipzig is heavily rumored to spend the money in Leverkusens Kevin Kampl.

Rumors from Spain today that Chelsea and Atletico have finally agreed on a fee, and that Costa will be loaned to Everton through January.

Latest rumors are Arsenal are requesting Sterling to be included in any deal for Sanchez. I don't see it happening but it makes sense from an Arsenal perspective. Sterling, if developed properly, is someone you can build a team with for the present and future. Don't think City will do it though.

Jovetić is official for Monaco, with Keita Baldé Diao also heavily rumored.

Seems they would be Germain & Mbappé replacements respectively, so not surprising they're reluctant on Lemar / Fabinho

For the past 48 hours or so, yeah haha

Liverpool agree a £35m fee for Oxlade-Chamberlain:

Origi looks to be off on loan to Wolfsburg:

Per Paul Joyce, Liverpool still interested in both Lemar and Van Dijk ahead of the deadline.

Roma have announced the signing of Patrik Schick in perhaps the strangest video yet

What the FUCK, AS Roma? Seriously... is this a "kids these days" thing in which I'm just out of touch, or is that the most nonsensical collection of weird crap in a 45 second video ever? What the hell does the goat playing chess have to do with anything?

Continuing the trend of unexpected low-mid table EPL sides signing premier talent on loan, WBA have signed Grzegorz Krychowiak on load from PSG
