Just look at this fancy chart. Burkett is #1 on a bunch of columns with impressive sounding acronyms and the other binky Gillislee is #2. I only vaguely know what the chart says but T-Rex is #1 and Gillislee is #2.

GET IT DONE BB.

@SharpFootball
Rex Burkhead (visiting NE) was #2 in success rate for RBs. But on plays that weren't successful, he was the #1 RB in fewest missed yards.

It breaks down categories that make players binky-worthy

T-Rex had 24 carries for 117 yards on the very last game of the 2016 season.

Also, From a Bengals fan commenting on PFF:

Rex should be the starter in Cincy. Gio Bernard is an excellent change of pace back, and Jeremy Hill was a one year wonder who became a bust after he fumbled away the first playoff win since 1990.
Bengals are regressing to their old ways and letting guys with great character who are also playing at a high level (Rex had better stats across the board than all Bengal RB’s and most NFL RB’s last part of the season), and taking a look at discount bin troubled past players (Mixon). Whitworth, Zeitler, & Peko all great character guys and Whit and Z were at the top of their position ratings in the NFL.
Rex won’t get out of NE. Good luck to him, great RB and great guy, Bengals will miss him.

Kind of thinking out loud here, but I wonder what the trade market would be for James White. Only one more year under contract. I pretty much fully expect he will be gone after 2017. If the Pats could sign Burkhead to a pretty friendly deal, would/should they explore trading White? What would be an acceptable trade? Can't imagine he would even fetch a 3rd, right?

Seems like the return would be less valuable than simply keeping the player and then letting him walk, a la Vereen. I could see adding Burkhead with the idea that he would compete now, but probably take on a bigger role in 2018.

My first thought was that he reminded me of Woodhead, but that may have just been due to skin color. He reminded me of Lewis with the spin moves, shuffle steps, and general quickness. He also seemed to have great hands and a pretty wide catch radius. He's closer to Bolden's size than to White, Lewis or Woodhead.

I really want an offensive set next preseason with JB under center, Hogan, Amendola, and Edelman split out wide, and Burkhead and Develin in the backfield.

All caveats acknowledged, in that highlight reel Burkhead looked to me like "Julian Edelman but a running back."
This was my exact thought. I think it's in the way he runs in the open field and behind blockers. Hard to get a clean shot on, very fast to accelerate, well always get an extra few yards.

The jump cuts are what make think of Edelman the most, though the other similarities people have listed certainly apply. Also that he seems to sneak through small gaps and then burst.

I was going to make a mention that they could roll out "1986 Celtics" style white-out lineup, for the offensive skill positions (with Gronk possibly involved, too), but yours works better being a more of a "twist on race norms in the NFL" and less "white-power! racism"

Here
Wow a napkin sighting. I have become irrationally excited about signing Burkhead. I am refreshing this page as much as the thread that would transcend sports.

Until I saw it here, I didn't realize Burkehead's ST involvement in Cin. Seems like the Bolden replacement/upgrade/better hedge against RB injuries theory is the most likely.

Almost as many replies and views for the courting of a 3rd string RB as the combined totals for Harmon, Ealy, and Branch.

I don't think he's going to be "3rd string" if signed
I was joking, but yes, I agree and have already said I think he would fill the Blount (RB) and Bolden (ST) roles on the team. Just funny how much interest has been generated based on a visit.

Pretty nice signing. I think this means Blount is gone, but we will see and I dont think its a bad thing.

Could mean a White or Lewis trade too I guess, but dont think they'll get a lot coming back.

It will be interesting to see the terms.
I think one of Lewis, White, or Bolden get traded for a 7th.
