The Masters is owned by the tyrants who run Augusta National, not the PGA or USGA. So they have free reign to eject anyone who does not act with what they feel is appropriate decorum. (Note: unsure why the USGA or PGA does not follow their lead for their tournaments.)

The plane thing is about air traffic control. My guess is that a course in rural Wisconsin has no restrictions on the airspace, so nothing that Fox can do about it.
They covered the airspace thing early in the broadcast and you're correct, there are no restrictions, so people can fly over it if they want. And they want, apparently.

I'm surprised there isn't a TFR over the course. FAA usually puts TFRs into effect for big events but this didn't qualify I guess. There are TFRs over stadiums during every sporting event, for example.

A golf course is much bigger than a stadium, and this is in the middle of nowhere, so I guess they didn't want to restrict airspace. It's kind of dumb for whoever is flying above the course. But I think I'm used to it now.

This has been relatively drama free. Fowler needs to make a run soon and he's got a modest par putt ahead of him.

The lowest score relative to par by a non-winner in any US Open was -8 (Jason Day in 2011, when Rory finished at -16). Trey Mullinax has already tied that mark this year. Xander Schauffele has beaten it by two shots.
Looks like it'll eventually be -12, shattering the record. Koepka has this easy now.

Koepka's kind of boring huh? Not a lot of emotion for a dude who's probably going to win his first major. Guess it's not that surprising considering he only plays golf because he's good at it.

All my hopes for a tense finish and Rickie in the mix are being obliterated as quickly as the Celtics' fans hope of the Fultz years.

Matsuyama's only chance is Brooks losing a drive into the fescue.

Gonna be tough for Harman. He doesn't have the fire power to get home in 2 on 18.

...and ball game.

Is he one of those Keith Foulke types who is talented and treats it like a career but doesn't love the game? That's probably a great trait to have in a major.

Good for Koepka. He seems like a likable guy. I'm glad he is going to win. This wasn't an all time open by any measure but it was fun golf to watch. Really impressed by Hartman too he has hung in all day. Folwer wilted again on a Sunday. Guy isn't a closer

Distances are completely messed up in professional golf. Pros are hitting the ball 100 yards further than they did when I was a kid - and I'm in my 40s. This has to stop.
It's going to slow down now that the manufacturers are going out of business.

Anyway, this 20-something generation is the first that grew up with modern equipment and they built their swings around giant clubheads and forgiveness. There has been a big shift away from blades to cavity back irons among tour players over the past few years too. Once again, more forgiving so easier to take stronger cuts.

I liked the course, but I am amazed with the scores. Long just isn't a defense for a course. I thought the fescue, and some of the bunkers might have some impact, but basically they were no defense.

I'm guessing the course plays 2-3 strokes tougher later in the summer. The problem they had was the fairways and greens were incredibly soft. They made the fairways wide which makes sense good gen the fescue, but drives never rolled. Unlike a British open, where drives might roll 40 yards, that almost never happened. These guys from fairways hitting into receptive greens are going to score

Yardage isn't a primary defense. It's just a lazy way to design a course. All of these courses touting their total length and whatever monster par 4/5... they're basically advertising being the loudest band in England.

There is no doubt the USGA won't ever go back to Erin Hills. It was an awful decision, the course has no personality and it wasn't even remotely close to a US Open course, too, so records were shattered.

I wasn't a huge fan of Chambers Bay's look, but at least it had character. Erin Hills was a fail and it didn't help that the tournament lost most of the big names and a tight leaderboard (and expected exciting finish) ended up evaporating yesterday.
