That's a laughable return, so it ain't happening. The Pats don't have to trade Gronk, and today's remarks didn't change that calculus.
For maybe one year of Gronk? I don't know, especially if it's Cleveland.

Given his recent comments, injury history and understandably diminished love of the grind of the game, he’s likely out of the league in two or three years tops. With all that in mind, I’m not sure a high first and a third would be a bad deal for the Pats, especially since he seems increasingly uninterested in playing for B.B.—something that we can be sure that the league’s smarter GMs have also noticed

How many draft points is Gronk worth to trade up????
That hits on a point. Many sellers would be happy to accept a 2019 first acq’d via trade as currency.

And if I’m trading for Gronk, I’m offering a high second this year and would be slow to budge.

the only trade that makes sence is gronk to the LA Rams for Aaron Donald

he is richard seymour times 2 Donalid only has 1 year left on deal the Rams or 4gers is plob the only teams gronk would play for

if bill b really hated Brady gronk he couild send gronk to denver for 5 denver gets 23 43 u draft a QB at 5 and a te at 31

then denver whouild seand gronk to SF for their 9th pick

I think San Fran would be a great trade partner. They can pay him a ton, they have enough promise to keep him from retiring, and the Pats could move up to 9 overall. Maybe Gronk plus their second back?

When the Patriots did the incentives last year, they were NLTBE (not likely to be earned) because he hadn't reached those marks in an injury-shortened 2016, so they didn't count against the cap at the time. If they did those incentives now, it would consume cap space because they would be classfied as LTBE (likely to be earned).

Beyond that, I can imagine some combination of a) the Patriots did a solid to Gronk last year on his contract that they didn't have to do and don't want to have to monkey with his contract every offseason and/or b) Gronk feels like he's proven he's still Gronk and wants something more concrete than an incentive-based deal.
I still don't think the Pats got enough credit for that cap move. That was fucking brilliant--or am I missing something about how it comes back somehow?

I feel like the Pats need Gronk more than Gronk needs the Pats.
I'm not so certain anymore. Five Super Bowl wins paves the road to transitioning.

I'm among those who think a trade could happen
Gronk doesn't know what it is to play professional football for anyone but the Patriots.

He may prefer another place. But he should definitely call LBTG first and have a good talk.

This seems like a reasonable take from Curran and makes sense that it’s related to Guerrero.

It did eventually cost them cap space. And in theory they could have just held the line and saved money. They did him a solid; it wasn't a masterstroke or anything.

Are you talking about LeGarrette Blount (who just won a Super Bowl with the Eagles)?

Is that real?

Indeed.

But not for Pittsburgh! But that is a good point.

the end of dynasties are always ugly aren't they? fuck if this is the time.
I think that I'm honestly so tired of end of the dynasty stories that I might not even notice until a few years after the fact.

I wish these fucks could check their goddamn egos and accept that they are nothing without each other and they made history for nearly 20 fucking years.

I really can’t wait until the season starts, 12/87/BB are all fine and they play in another AFCCG as worst case scenario. People are reading way too much into all this nonsense.

I'm fairly confident that we've all received our fair share of joy from the fact that these guys have creepy large egos.

Well, maybe not @luckiestman ...

Ego is one thing, but it’s getting petty now seemingly. They’re getting egos towards each other (maybe).
I completely agree with you. 100%--including the post above.

On the other hand, I've become increasingly focused on a bunch of guys hitting a rock with a stick. So I'm sorta torn about how to feel about these things, yeah? ;)

No. The original comic says “solid advice”.

This, however, is real:

One day, when I was a sophomore in a Catholic high school, our principal (an elderly nun) was our substitute for English class.

The topic was “types of irony”. On the list after “sarcasm” was “boner”.

Some of us nearly threw a clot trying to stifle laughter when Sister Sheila asked “What’s a boner?” And followed it up with “Can someone describe a boner to me?” after her first question was met with uncomfortable silence.

Almost as much fun as conjugating the past tense of poner in Spanish class.

I love this story. There is just so much going on.

Edit: A huge part of me wants to believe she was fucking with you people.

Sounds like a restructure occurred. Rosenhaus wouldn’t say that otherwise.
