YES. Now this is a great trade:

@FieldYates
The Patriots have traded now pick 114 to the Lions in exchange for Detroit’s 2019 third round pick, per source.

You realize he'll trade out of that spot, right

Today for us is a complete waste of time.

We’re not going to address the defense in this draft in a significant way.

We should never forget “they are notorious for having a small board.”

Disagree. I liked Lauletta, you liked Lauletta, but clearly B.B./Josh did not. They had ample chances to take him. Some day you can question the evaluation, but you can’t question the draft strategy.
Well I hope you are right. It just seems odd that they traded out of the round all together after some of the picks in front of them.
Can’t argue with the Pats’ success though. Regardless of this draft they will be competing for the AFC Championship next year.

Bill could use some of his new draft capital to trade for a player he likes better than the players on the board. There are multiple ways to fill needs. Let's see what the team looks like in September. I'm guessing there will still be some moves made.

I started on the treadmill with the fist pick and vowed not to get off till the Pats pick. This could be a record breaking run.
Pros:
1.). I’m in LA, so time zones work in my favor. Not killing the whole day.
2.) While I I’ve things I want to do, no hard plans today.
3.) In fact, things I want to procrastinate on.
4.). I could use the work

Cons:
1.) as per usual, it’s a beautiful day here
2.) this is kind of boring
3.). Not in shape for this

I’m down to a slow jog (walking when I post) and will drop to a fast walk st th end of the round.

Beyond the condescending attitude of that tweet, NE is in a far different landscape than it was when it got Gronk. First and foremost, Brady doesn't have as many years remaining as he did then. To compare the situations is lazy bullshit

A Gronk would be a good pick regardless of having Brady though.

So, to recap, netting everything out.

1) The Patriots traded 117 to move up to get Dawson.

2) The Patriots traded the 43rd overall pick for 178 this year and a second (Bears) and a third (Lions) in 2019.

Who are these guys next year?
Shea Patterson (Mich)
Justin Herbert (Oregon)
Clayton Thorson (Northwestern)
Trace McSorley (Penn St)
Drew Lock (Missou)
Jarrett Stidham (Auburn)
Will Grier (WV)

Are all guys to watch this year, but, who the hell knows.

This guy must be fun to hang out with
He's the guy you ask along for a night at the bar with friends, talk him up to the point where he's so happy to be there that he offers to pay the tab ... then you gack on his shoes and leave him standing there

Bears have a decent chance to go 6-10. Vegas puts them at 6.5 wins (over -130 / under +110). That gets them in the #9-#12 range in the first round and #41-45 range in the second.

So, BB essentially this year's #43 second-rounder for a similar spot in 2019 + 3rd rounder in 2019 + #178 this year.

Would be helpful (and wishful thinking) if the Vikes and (Rodgers) Packers beat up the Bears and Lions, and they split against each other so with some luck there could be 5 losses right there.

I remembered you wrote this awhile ago. First thing that came to mind was if you were still pushing through. Pace yourself....

I want to see Bill trade again to get pick 199 and then select a Random QB just to mess with everyone.
I want
Luis Perez of Texas A&M-Commerce
He worked out at A&M when we met with Manziel twice. Thick smoke screen.
(I don't really know enough about him to have a real opinion, but he threw a good looking ball).

I will shamelessly refer to @mascho's excellent QB article: http://insidethepylon.com/nfl/2018-nfl-draft/2018/04/20/check-with-me-mark-schofields-2018-nfl-draft-qb-rankings-10-6/
Scheme Fit: Woodside is somewhat limited schematically as he lacks a power arm to push the ball vertically on a consistent basis. He is best suited for a rhythm-based offense, similar to what New England runs, as his footwork on both drops and in the pocket is solid, and he shows the ability to make throws on time and in the overall structure of the play.
...and predict QB Logan Woodside in the 6th round for the Pats.
