Foles to the Bills is interesting. I just can’t make a bet right now. Lot of uncertainty too, between can Hue Jackson coach and do the Bills get a qb. A seem to think more highly of Taylor than you, we will at least know on him by the end of the year. With Landry, Coleman and Gordon, there are minimal excuses for him and Hue this year.
I meant that if you were going to trade draft picks for Landry when he is signed on a franchise tag, where you are going to have to negotiate a new contract with him, then you have to be committing to him as a key part of your team for the next, what, let's say five years - if you are committing to Landry as a part of the team that you are building, and if you are going to trade additional draft capital on a not-cheap veteran QB, wouldnt it make sense to target a QB whose skillset complimented Landry, even if that QB was only part of your plan as a bridge for one year?

The New York Giants and the NFL are aware of a potentially troubling video involving wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. that was leaked Friday while he was on a Nike-sponsored trip in Europe.
The seven-second clip posted on social media shows Beckham in a bed alongside a pizza holding what appears to be some sort of brown cigarette or cigar. There is a woman next to him with a credit card and what looks like a white powdery substance aligned in rows.

There's solid advice there in general, but the underlying tone of that article seems to be 'Sherman as a player must by default have signed a bad deal because it's not possible he could have considered things properly, here's a list of things that I think he could've gotten better without presenting any evidence that they were things SF or Sherman would agree to', and I can't decide if it's actually insulting or just dumb.
To pick on one very specific example -
Sherman grew up in LA, went to college in the Bay Area, and then has been in Seattle since 2011. Maybe moving to the midwest (particularly Detroit) to save $1.1 million in state taxes (which isn't even correct due to the taxation based on where games are played) isn't something he's particularly interested in? It's fine to suggest that as a possibility, but the tone there is kind of arrogant.

There’s no state income tax in Washington. Out of curiosity, how do NFL player salaries work for purposes of taxation? Baseball players are working out of state for basically 1/2 the time that they are paid, but NFL players are on the road 8 days per season. I guess double that if you count them getting into town a day early for the road games. Do they get paid by game? Or do they just get paid a salary for the season? Seems like that would make a big difference in how taxes are calculated. I have no idea how that works.

I remember once long ago reading they get paid by game. E.g 16 million is 16 weekly checks of a million a check. Not sure if still true.
Well, when a player gets suspended for a game he loses one game's salary, so I believe they get paid by game. Not sure how it works with signing bonuses and the like, however.
In terms of how they pay taxes, I believe the states with so-called "Jock Taxes" will collect state income tax from athletes who play games in that state. So for an NFL player he'll pay state income tax in each of the 8 jurisdictions where he plays his road games, plus state income tax from his "home" state on half of his salary for the 8 games played there. The only states with NFL teams where there is no state income tax are Florida, Texas, Tennessee and Washington. Again, not sure how it works for signing bonuses. Some information here:

Right, but when the Bucs have a game in SF should the Tampa player pay CA taxes on 1/16 of his annual salary or on 1/120? Is an NFL player not working during the week of practice leading up to a game? I always assumed the jock taxes (or consultant taxes) are based on your number of days working in state. For baseball or basketball that roughly matches up with games, but for football the difference is pretty significant. A low tax jurisdiction player would seem to have a pretty solid argument that game day is 1/7 work days for which he was paid, with 6/7 being in his low tax home state in preparation for the game. Anyway, huge digression but figuring out how to minimize state tax burden is a very interesting topic to some folks.

Gase inherited a flawed roster and made some magic happen to get them to the playoffs in 2016. They’re going to rebuild again, but with Gase’s input, I actually have some faith that they’ll rebuild the team more in line with today’s game in mind, and not spend 20 million on a run stuffing DT.
It actually feels like the QB draft chatter might be real this year.

I don’t get this. Suh is like exactly what the doctor ordered in terms of talent. Don’t get me wrong – he’s an asshole and will likely command a big deal given that his character issues aside he performed well for the Dolphins.
But if he were up for it, you don’t think the Pats should even consider bringing him in for a one year Revis-style deal?
They just traded for a DT and then also have Malcolm Brown and Adam Butler inside. Get some linebakcers for chrissakes
Suh is somebody they need because he provides something they don't have: ability to get to the QB from the inside. They need LBs and edge rushers too but also have nobody that gets consistent push up the middle.
I think he was kidding about the Eagles.
Suh will be a test of the Browns’ and Jets’ front offices. Both seem to be on a decent track, both have money burning holes in their pockets. I want nothing to do this this guy if I have a young team in culture changing mode.

One way or another, they are getting one. This move opens up options and provides leverage in negotiations for Foles.
No to Suh. I don't want to cheer for him. I also feel that his talent, while great, is less than what I expect the combination of the financial + personality cost will be. There are other ways to build a roster.

Andrew Norwell to the jags for 5/66 (Shaq Mason is not going to be cheap)
Brees back to the saints for 2/48 (edit: apparently just a rumor for now)
Case Keenum to the Broncos, no contract details yet
Sammy Watkins to the Chiefs for 3/48 with 30 guaranteed (which seems like a massive overpay to me)

Massive overpay, but if Mahomes can actually throw the ball downfield they're a matchup nightmare with Watkins as their 4th best option on offense after Hill, Hunt, and Kelce.
Love that Robinson deal for the Bears. If Meredith can actually return from that nasty injury, that’s 2 nice WR options.
Pairing Butler with Slay would make for a very nice CB duo. Superbowl mystery aside this looks like a nice move for DET.
I’m not sure it says a whole lot. BB has preciously commented positively on his skill and hard work. It was a matchup and timing issue.
But the media will certainly turn it into the biggest story of the offseason.
