Is anyone else confused why it's news that a year ago, Gronk was being treated just like players before they're dealt? Isn't this thread a year late?

My take? Some Jets fan was having some fun on Reddit and the Boston sports media is too stupid, or want a hot take so bad they went with it.
Not sure about reddit guy, but seems like Thornton had some flimsy/not confirmed info and Portnoy went with it.
Except the Reddit guy broke the Edelman story. So if it's a Jets fan having fun, then he also had a good connection / got super lucky with info falling into his lap.

The reddit “source” revealed that the big news he had was that he’s literally a complete random dude that completely guessed about the Edelman PED suspension based off of a tweet he saw.
His post has already been removed by moderators at r/Patriots.
National media outlets picked up on his post and treated him as a source. Barstool and PFT look like complete buffoons for basically sourcing an anonymous stranger on the internet.

Well he’s right about that. Even Curran shit his pants and brought back up some vague observation of Gronk treatment last year because he didn’t be want to be left out in the cold on this story.

I guess it’s possible that this imaginary lead was the spark that was needed for them to dig and get some inside scoops from their sources. But it’s also possible that sports journalism is mostly a joke.

I think it’s quite possible that Reddit poster does have some inside info, but is covering his tracks to pretend he doesn’t at this point. Belichick might have been outing leakers, or the guy realized he was giving away too much and didn’t want the attention.

PFT was a complete joke today. You had Florio pimping the guy and his big story and another writer saying nobody should take the guy seriously. They got clicks, though, I guess.
I'm buying that guy is legit and covering his tracks. Edelman wasn't on anyone's radars for being busted for PEDs, way too lucky of a guess to not be an insider. Now I do think any trade is dead.

What time was the Edelman post on Wednesday? Someone had called Zo and Bertrand around 11:30-12 Wednesday about it. If this reddit guy really was making it up it may not have been a wild guess as much as it was jumping on the caller earlier in the day
