Still hasn't lost his turnPhil has missed the green with consecutive chips on 9.
Meanwhile, Tiger makes eagle.Still hasn't lost his turn
He wore it for a practice round at Augusta and it got a lot of buzz. Seems he now has an endorsement.I came here to see if anyone was talking about Phil’s button up shirt. He looks like a guy who got called from his office to play a late afternoon round and didn’t have a change of clothes.
Is this something he has done before and I just missed!?
Edit - missed chsheas one comment on the previous page for me.
He's a part owner of the company. His endorsement deal included equity. He wore it for a practice round at Augusta and it got a lot of buzz. Seems he now has an endorsement.
To each his own. I dont like it all. I agree with bostonbeerbelly, he looks like a 20 handicapper who was late for his tee time after a long day at the office. Between the long sleeves and looking a little tight it seems like it could restrict his swing (but to be fair almost every shirt I've seen him wear looks a half size too small on him). I basically get a hacker vibe from it, and he played that way today. What's next, his caddy using a pull cart? He's a part owner of the company. His endorsement deal included equity.
It's so so Phil and I love it.
Honestly I think it is great for golf that they are not all (enhanced), superathletes, Good grief is is one of the few sports that can be played for life, and that on the right weekend Zach Johnson can go out and be 70 yards shorter than the other guys off the tee, and basically play what amounts to a different course because of the length, and still win.Guys like Tiger and DJ have spent years trying to change the perception that golfers aren't athletes. And they've been making progress. But Phil's new look is a major blow to that effort. Of course Kiradech Aphibarnrat doesn't help much either . . . just when you thought Tim "Lumpy" Herron was gone, his replacement shows up.
I think he looks like a dork, but ultimately I personally could care less what he looks like. However, lots of other people do care. Golf apparel is massive $, driven in a big way by what the pros wear. Phil's time as a viable contender on the regular tour is winding down, so he's probably focusing more now than before on looking for ways to set himself up off the course the way Greg Norman did. If its true that he invested in this company, he's obviously hoping he's going to start a new trend. I think it will fall by the wayside like Jesper Parnevik's hats and Ricky's high tops, but I could be wrong.Who gives a shit what he wears?
-1 looks pretty solid right nowWith the morning wave in, there are 63 players at -2 or better and 80 at -1 or better. Given the scoring, do we think the cut stays at -1 or does it go to -2?
I think it looks fine in principle, it’s just poorly tailored. It’s too small for him.I also think the button down long sleeve shirt look is not aesthetically pleasing.
Phil may still be money hungry, but he is one guy who doesn’t need to be other than Tiger. Pretty sure he is worth half a billion or more. Early investor in google I think. 20 years of endorsement deals. He is a big time gambler to what stake I don’t know, but he has FU money already. He doesn’t need a shitty wine company.I think he looks like a dork, but ultimately I personally could care less what he looks like. However, lots of other people do care. He may not need more money, but that's clearly the motivation behind this whole thing. He was blatantly in sales mode when answering questions about the shirt after the first round. His response was "I think it says that if you can play golf at the highest level, imagine how comfortable it is in the office."Phil may still be money hungry, but he is one guy who doesn’t need to be other than Tiger. I was coming to post those exact three words. This is really fun. Rooting so hard for a solid closing 6 holes for him. A 62 would be ridiculous and is completely in play. This is awesome.
