I hope I don't regret posting this, but with Palace up 3-0, they'll be at 33 points with an excellent GD, and upcoming games versus Brighton, Huddersfield and Cardiff...they should be safe. I'll be happy not to have the drama at the end of the season for once.

I can't see Fulham and Huddersfield surviving with the holes they're in, so they just need to stay ahead of one of the rest.

Jesus, 5 outstanding goals in this one, now Lukaku with his weak foot from the top of the area bends it around Gunn into the far corner

Were they?

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/tottenhams-penalty-vs-arsenal-correct-14076946

From article: FA rules state that if "a player in an offside position is moving towards the ball with the intention of playing the ball and is fouled before playing or attempting to play the ball, or challenging an opponent for the ball, the foul is penalised as it has occurred before the offside offence."
Is this true on a free kick? Because that seems ridiculous.

What does the rule book say about an opposing player(s) entering the box before a pk is taken?

Edit:yes I’m bitter

It says if you think that’s why he missed a PK I can’t help you.

Happy to get the draw today given their recent form. The Arsenal tears are delicious.

Ramos is a well-known piece of shit, but he may have stamped himself into the presidency of the hall of fame today. He needs to sit out for a long, long time.

Nice fight back from LCFC after the gut punch winner (Schmeichel has to be the most overrated keeper in the league - terrible clearance and then dithered before challenging Grey ) but they couldn’t get it done.

It is kind of fun having Rodgers back in the Prem. I’m of two minds on his stewardship of Liverpool. While he nearly got us the title, he didn’t do much without Suarez. The club never trusted his transfer policies. I don’t know if they would have sacked him if Klopp hadn’t been available but it certainly seemed like it was time to move on.

LCFC seems to be about his appropriate level. He should do well there but he’s certainly no saviour. And leaving Celtic as he did certainly diminished his Celtic legacy.

West London derby is off to a flying start. Poacher’s goal by Higuain matched by set piece goal by Callum Chambers. 1-1 30 minutes in at Craven Cottage.

Strange to see Jorginho removed for Kovacic at 68' - Jorginho's on a card but Chelsea haven't exactly looked assured defensively

Even after the change, Sarri still has Kanté meandering around the attacking third

Lineup for Liverpool:

Alisson, TAA, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Mané, Salah, Origi
Subs: Mignolet, Milner, Keïta, Firmino, Sturridge, Lallana, Shaqiri

Not sure I've ever seen a bench with one fill-in fullback and the rest midfielders/attackers

I glanced at the end of the subs and thought they were starting. I nearly popped a vein in my forehead.

I had the same thought when it dropped. Just shows the luxury of Fabinho .. starting DM, backup CB , backup FB .. not to mention Milner’s versatility.

Klopp seems to have gone off Shaqiri completely .. several opportunities of late to get him into games and he’s been ignored. Methinks his time has come and gone.

Tough break for Fulham at the death, Sessegnon was marginally offside on what would have been the equalizer (after an arguable foul by Mitrović)

Question: As an American, should I feel as absurd as I do when I say “darby” instead of “derby”?

Salah’s left foot giveth, taketh. Awful that he doesn’t trust his right foot in that situation.

Pickford is one of my favorite keepers.

Sigurdsson with three deft touches while under pressure to get out of the trap followed by Keane just kicking a simple pass into touch lol

Matip's been his defensive analog thus far - just hoofing it with no rhyme or reason half the time

Really just a matter of time for Liverpool Everton have looked overwhelmed and the striker can’t win any aerial battles against Matip and Van Dijk. They played same way against City but were able to occasionally relieve pressure

Wouldn't hurt to get Firmino and/or Shaqiri in by 60' if it's still goalless. Wijnaldum would be my candidate to come off - he's occupying a lot of the same space as Fabinho, and with a Schneiderlin/Gueye two-man midfield for Everton there isn't as big a need for a ball-retention specialist

I wouldn’t do this. The extra man lets them pressure Everton in midfield where they are crumbling. When Liverpool are at their best IMO they are turning you over just inside your own half and releasing that speed into space.

I can see that argument, it'd also make sense for Origi to make way for Firmino & push Mané out wide given the possession for Liverpool and limited opportunities yielded with the current setup.

Firmino too busy taking pictures with babies to get subbed on

Fullbacks are so advanced for Liverpool that Matip / Van Dijk have no choice but to put it into touch under any pressure whatsoever - Henderson has to be dropping a bit wider as Milner has down the left

Liverpool losing the #1 spot because they can't beat a struggling Everton would be delicious.

Overall though Man City has been a better side than Liverpool who have been incredibly fortunate with referee decisions this season, probably gotten then 6-9 points just from that.
