I am nervous simply because of how badly I want this team to go all the way, but I am also feeling a state of zen that I don’t think I’ve ever felt pre-playoffs. Maybe because they have already given so much joy this season, but also maybe because I think they are an army of tanks rolling in against bows and arrows.

It is not going to be easy by any means but they are as well-prepared as any team I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching. And supremely motivated.

California. Duh.
This was a hell of a year for my girlfriend to start following hockey. I have to keep reminding her that winning 80 percent of the games you play doesn't usually happen.

little known added wrinkle this year - the shirt off your back winners are actually playing on Thursday

Makes me wonder how this’ll play out up here. CBC will get Toronto in the East, and Winnipeg and Edmonton out West. Who’s the big Canadian draw in the East outside TB-Toronto?

Until my eyes see them play like this in a playoff game, even for one period, the "will they do it's" remain. I just need a "yeah, ok, it's still the same guys."

Considering Monty’s been talking to Scotty Bowman about how to deal with this, I’m strangely okay with them going into the post-season as is. I don’t think he’ll let complacency set in.

They also have more regulation wins than Carolina (the next best team by points percentage) has overall wins, and that's even if the Canes win on Thursday.

I'm not sure I can wrap my head around how good this team is.

They lost in regulation to a playoff team 6 times all season.

6.

What’s the process for letting one of those sweaters air out before you put it up on the wall?

In the raw denim world they like to avoid washing. They recommend sticking jeans in the freezer to take away the stink. I have no idea if it actually works.
