Looking at the box scores and remembering some of these games, in many instances the losses are very early in the season and the bullpen was still being straightened out or was never any good to begin with. Some of the losing pitchers were starters pitching in relief such as Schilling and Matsuzaka. I believe this time around the opponents being dazzled by Sale in both of the wins and having a reasonably competent bullpen so far has done the trick despite Morales' bomb today.

It's hard to disagree with this. And the CGSHO is so rare that its become a "thing" in a way that it hasn't always been.

But even 102 is 13 per inning. So you're looking at a probable 115; then closing in on 120 if there's a glitch, and then it's Kimbrel into the game with a man on base. I think that's what went into the decision.

Then he is a shitty team-mate. When do the wants of an individual come before the team?

Highly doubtful. This is the same dude that cut up some promotion jerseys because he felt his organization wasn't doing enough to win. Sure, he'd pitch until his arm blows up but today he passed the baton and they came away with a win.

Why would he be a shitty teammate for wanting to finish a game that he felt was his to finish?

It's no big deal; but your post misconstrues everything.

Wait... So it's "highly doubtful" that Sale was probably not happy about leaving the game... because he once cut up uniforms?

I suspect thee is a vast divide between "wishing he'd gotten the CGShO" and "being a shitty teammate." As long as "being happy we won" gets more of his votes than "I'm disappointed," then he's no shitty teammate. At a minimum, a "shitty teammate" would not have said what Sale said after the game:
    I think that's a perfectly reasonable, non-shitty reaction to the day's events.

Every closer is going to blow saves. Nothing is more frustrating than your best reliever coughing up the lead in the 9th but it happens to every single one of them. Craig allowed a solo shot to a good hitter but kept it contained and when given another chance in the 10th, he slammed the door shut.

He was good last year and he's been great so far in 2017.

yeah. There's a difference between being competitive and throwing your teammates under the bus.

We won the game because of Sale. And Mookie, but we're never in position but for Sale. He knows it. The entire team knows it.

Kimbrel especially knows it and probably has already talked to him. One day, hopefully, Kimbrel will have a chance to clean up Sale's mess.

If Sale is disappointed to lose the W, that's understandable, but if we're not the kind of team where players can't be happy for kicking ass and winning because of it, regardless of who gets the mark in a book, then we're not going anywhere.

So you are insinuating that a monster like Sale is not happy with the win?

A man who has never been in the post season, and wants to desperately get there?

I have no clue what Sale thinks, but I do lean with Rembrat's take.

If any teammate wants or feels to put their individual accomplishments ahead of the team, then that's a shitty team-mate.
I guess I'm not sure about the reason being it's his game to finish"
    It's a team sport.

Unless he said otherwise, I am likely to believe that he is an intense competitor who knows it's his job to give his team a chance to win. And today the did. He did his job. Sure, he'd like the "W" but I'll bet on Chris being happy to get out of town with a TEAM win. He understands it's the nature of the game. He may have a bad game and the offense picks him with 7 or 8 runs. So to insinuate anything else is over thinking and over analyzing. Need to focus on tomorrow and his eventual next start. Helluva season so far for Sale.

Just guessing how he felt based on his ten times out of 9 quote.
I doubt he's upset about the final outcome--but anyone that has played competitive baseball....
    Ahhhh fuck it.

EDIT: Reaponse directed to to Detts and Greenwell. Not to Mauidano.
And if you had read the fucking thread, I defended JF's move.
Why the fuck are we arguing about something obvious?

This is the dumbest post outside of Back Bay's contributions.

Why isn't there a game thread yet? Didn't we learn our lesson?

Which lesson? That if the thread-starter does do their job, there should be a megathread?

With Pom on the mound, we need everything to be just right.

Budcrew better toe the line here. Thread starting is a big responsibility.
