Two things I really hope we see:

1) Pasta demonstrating something resembling a pulse. Either he’s quietly hurt or something just ain’t right with him.

2) Marchand using his brain. Not sure whether it’s solely his inclination toward being a pest or partially frustration over his offensive drought, but his nonsense with Atkinson in OT could’ve resulted in a CBJ power play for no reason other than his inability to control himself.

It was also dumb for the reason that stomping on a stick um isn't great for your edges. Someone whose main skill set involves being incredibly shifty on his skates shouldn't really be deliberately doing something to jeopardize his edge, especially in OT when there's no TV timeouts.

It was mind-bogglingly dumb considering the moment in the game in which he did it.

Fuck Kadri, Go Broons. Provided Krejci can play, this team rolls 3 awesome lines. Coyle has been awesome, but to me it's really the 2nd line that stirs the drink. I've been really impressed with Krejci these playoffs, DeBrusk plays way bigger than his size (6'0, 190!), and Pasta hasn't been great yet, but he's been OK and gets more space on this line IMO than when he plays with Bergy-Marshy.

You people are crazy. Marshy was in control and knew exactly what he was doing, and his edges (which he can just change out instantly) aren't going to get destroyed by stepping on a taped stick. No ref is going to see that and even if they do, no ref is going to call that right then. I thought it was hilarious, and Atkinson's reaction was over the top. Keep your stick out of his skates and just get a new stick homey.

He stomped on his stick hard enough to break it.

Twice.

That absolutely can blow an edge.

And you can't "change a blade instantly." Can it be done quickly? Sure. But still, in OT, with no TV timeouts, you're looking at missing a shift or two.

You know their blades pop out? And new ones pop in?

I only saw one stomp, it was quick. I mean look, we both play, we get the physics of it. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I think Marchand absolutely knew what he was doing, right down to the fact that he was confident he wouldn't lose an edge. I know with his history it's easy to look at an action like this and say he's losing it, but from seeing his behavior all year, he's 100% in control and not going to endanger his team. He's still a complete shit stirrer, but I think it's hilarious.

I mean, even the slash on Atkinson...that wasn't an emotional response, he was waiting for Atkinson to bump him so he could wack him back. Dude is locked in.

McAvoy whacking Atkinson as he skated by before getting to Marchand was my favorite too.

I thought it was absolutely hilarious. But if someone ever did that to me I'm stabbing them with the broken blade because sticks ain't cheap.

Huge difference between the Westboro League and the National League. I think those guys get their sticks comped...

edit: And good spot, I had forgotten about the little slash Atkinson got on his way back to the FO dot, didn't realize that was McAvoy- I noticed it last night but forgot it after the 'scuffle' with 63. Just the casual "fuck your stick" slash...hilarious.

There's not THAT much difference between the Westborough Senior League and the NHL, let's be honest.

What offensive drought? He’s leading the team in postseason points with 9 and has 4 goals.

He didn’t have a great game, but he had flashes. And he was so deep in Atkinson’s head that he had to pay a security deposit.

He easily could have had 2-3 goals last night too, just wasn't bouncing his way. I thought he played an excellent game other than one dumb turnover in the neutral zone on the PK when he was the last guy back.

And while that was rather stupid, he then tracked all the way back and stole the puck back.

He's really one of the best 10-15 forwards in the league right now.

About to board my flight to Columbus. Plenty of tickets available for a reasonable price, win tonight and they will be even more reasonabler.

I'll be in the house on Tuesday (and maybe Thursday).

Any suggestions for a Boston and/or hockey bar around Miami Beach (specifically South Beach) or the surrounding area? While the B’s in the second round wasn’t unexpected, this trip certainly was, so I’m scrambling a bit to find a decent spot.

Krejci skated this morning so he seems like a go. Heinen is with him and Pasta is back on the perfection line. Gryz also was a full participant.
Great news on Krejci. Good idea to try Pasta with Bergy & Marchy to get him going.

Cassidy used all 18 players Thursday night. No one had more than 20 minutes (McAvoy had 19:55) and no one had less than 10 minutes (Johansson had 10:51). Do it again.
